“You Never Know”: Michael Johnson Reveals Details About Tyreek Hill Interaction Amidst Noah Lyles Drama

5 min read

If there is one guy that screams controversy, it is no doubt, Noah Lyles. But it seems the champ is too bored to remain just limited to sprinting rivals, so he got into much back and forth with Tyreek Hill. But just when we thought that the Paris 100m champ was done with this, something new popped up. This pop came in the form of GST mastermind Michael Johnson. Now, Johnson has his own bones to pick with Noah. And the track legend might have an interesting take on the whole Tyreek fiasco. So what did he say? Is it even valid?

Now, anyone who follows track and field knows Lyles has taken quite a few shots at the NFL. Back in August 2024, the NFL star stated that he could surely beat Noah Lyles in a 100-meter dash. Lyles not only laughed it off, but he also took several digs at the NFL star. In a recent incident, the Olympic gold medalist held a sign reading, “Tyreek could never” after winning a 60m race at the NB Indoor GP 2025.

However, GST mastermind Michael Johnson thinks that the entire race thing might be scripted!  Micahel Johnson recently appeared in an exclusive interview with CITIUS MAG. While they discussed over a host of content, host Chris Chavez got curious at one point. Recently, Johnson was spotted exchanging pleasantries with Tyreek Hill during the Super Bowl weekend. With Johnson planning a lot of things for his upcoming GST event, Chavez asked the track legend to spill the beans. But again, this just might be Johnson trying to get back at Lyles.

After all, initially, Johnson’s reply did not seem to carry anything of significant interest. He said, “We talked about racing, uh, we talked about racing, um, you know he was, uh, I just bumped into him yet at the Super Bowl and was talking about Grand some track as well, you know, uh, just kind of telling them what we’re doing.” However, what he said next was enough to ignite yet another controversy. Johnson stated that he asked whether the Tyreek Hill and Noah Lyles race was a real deal!

The track legend stated, “If he’s going to race, no, and of course, you never know if you’re getting the real thing or if it’s in know WWE hype.”  Now, this is a bold claim to make. As everyone knows, WWE is sports entertainment, and the outcomes are predetermined. This was quite the statement to make since it implied that the whole charade was simply a media move.  Nonetheless, Johnson did not reveal what Tyreek Hill reverted to his query.

Meanwhile, Johnson also stated that he asked Hill whether he would continue to play for the Miami Dolphins or not in the coming season. Now, speaking of controversies and Noah Lyles, he also ran it down with Michael Johnson. After the Grand Slam Track was announced, Lyles immediately criticized Johnson, stating that the league lacked visibility. With more such back-and-forth going on, the feud between them has really been an interesting prospect to watch.

Noah Lyles and Michael Johnson face off over Grand Slam Track’s future

Noah Lyles isn’t backing down—and neither is Michael Johnson! The reigning Olympic gold medalist has been vocal about his issues with Johnson’s Grand Slam Track (GST). Despite the league securing major broadcast deals with Peacock, The CW, NBC, Eurosport, and TNT, Lyles still doesn’t seem satisfied.

Lyles initially blasted the league’s lack of exposure, stating, “If a tree falls in the middle of the woods and nobody is there to see it, did it really fall?” Johnson’s response? “Peacock, The CW, NBC, Eurosport, TNT. I’m a damn lumberjack! I cut down all the trees in the woods, and everybody heard them fall. Well, almost everybody.”  Even after securing broadcast coverage, Noah remains unconvinced.

On Beyond the Records, he proposed a bold idea. He claimed that GST should establish a permanent stadium in one central U.S. city, creating a consistent venue for the league’s events. “I think they should hold up one more year… build one stadium in the U.S. in one central city,” Lyles suggested. However, his co-hosts quickly pointed out the financial challenges, highlighting track and field’s status as a “non-revenue” sport.

Johnson seems unfazed by the Olympic gold medalist’s critique, but he hasn’t ruled out the sprinter’s involvement entirely. “Noah’s certainly one of those; I mean, Noah is the fastest… Those sorts of athletes are the people that we want to be part of this league,” Johnson acknowledged. Yet Lyles’s continued skepticism leaves the door open for tension.

Adding another layer to the drama, Johnson recently dismissed the idea of including NFL star Tyreek Hill in GST, reinforcing his commitment to elevating professional track athletes. With the launch approaching and Noah still holding his ground, the clash between two of the track’s biggest names is far from over. What are your thoughts on the same?
