Yankees’ $12.5M Star Sends Strong Message to Will Warren After Humiliating Dodgers Upset Shakes Bronx

4 min read

Will Warren walked into the Los Angeles Dodgers stadium with plenty of adrenaline pumping and with some solid momentum behind him. Four stars, a 2-0 record, and a K/9 rate that had even Gerrit Cole taking him up. The New York Yankee manager showed plenty of faith, too, just ahead of the game, saying, “Whatever happens, I feel like we’re continuing to see the emergence of a really good pitcher.”

But about two hours later, in front of 51,000+ fans at the Dodger Stadium, Warren got beat up big time. Dodgers, they didn’t go about checking reports—they served and they rewrote them. Warren could not even get through two innings. Seven runs, four outs, 57 pitches, and he was done. After the game, he did look visibly shaken, and he made no excuses for his game, saying, “It hurts. It sucks. I let the team down.”

Now, usually when a teammate is down, others in the clubhouse step in. That’s what’s happening with the Mets and Juan Soto, right? But not here because Warren got pretty little grace. And even Paul Goldschmidt didn’t throw a blanket over the flame.

The $12.5 million New York Yankee star said, “He has pitched so well for us… and obviously, today wasn’t his day. I give credit to the Dodgers’ offense. He probably made a few mistakes.” He also credited the Dodgers’ offense for being able to put up the incredible play. But overall, no sugarcoating, no comforting cliches, just mere facts: he served. Goldschmidt’s comments echo what everyone saw on the field—Warren didn’t execute well. Plus, Will Warren knew what he was getting into.

Just days before, Cole told him what to expect pitching in LA. Everything from the nerves, pressure, and noise, and Warren took the advice in. But when the time came to get rolling, nothing did. In the end, Goldschmidt also said that, apart from Judge‘s homers, no one did anything right. And he isn’t wrong. The New York Yankees, plain and simple, got steamrolled—18-2. It was their worst loss in weeks and the end of the seven-game win streak. However, for the Aaron Judge fans, it’s not all bad either.

Scoreboard was ugly, but the New York Yankee captain was beautiful

Indeed, the New York Yankees lost poorly on Saturday. But if you think that’s the only headline, think again. Because amid all the chaos, Aaron Judge went full beast mode. The New York Yankee captain went 3 for 4 with two monster home runs. He reminded everyone that even when the scoreboard shows the ugly, he never gives up, always displaying classy baseball.

That blast has now brought his season total to 21, just behind Cal Raleigh in the AL. It has even pushed him closer to Yankee legend territory. Judge now sits at 42 career multi-homer games, just one behind Lou Gehrig, and right next up are Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth. The Babe Ruth, which is just rare. If you talk numbers, Judge is hitting .398 with 50 RBIs and a 1.268 OPS. So, all the buzz about MVP is not simply whispers anymore.

However, the Dodgers were the team that was lights-out. Max Muncy, for example, went deep twice, and Shohei Ohtani went 2 for 4. Andy Pages and Dalton Rushing had bombs of their own, and it was a full fireworks show. But there is more left, and maybe standing at 35-22, the Yankees can prove themselves as they face the Dodgers, who are 36-22, on Sunday night.

Ryan Yarbrough will take the ball for the Yankees against his former squad, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be on the other side. And he is a heavyweight player in his own right with a 6-3 record and an eye-watering 1.97 ERA. Are you excited for the next game? Let us know.
