The Spurs are wrapping up their five-game homestand tonight against the Heat, but there’s a big problem—they’ll have to do it without their best player. Victor Wembanyama is out. The phenom has been ruled out with an illness, and yeah, that’s a brutal loss.
Wemby wasn’t even on the injury report earlier, so this one came out of nowhere. And let’s be real—this is a massive blow for San Antonio. The guy has been unreal this season, putting up 24.6 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He does everything, and his presence on both ends is going to be seriously missed—especially against a scrappy Heat squad, even without Jimmy Butler (who’s suspended, by the way).
With Wemby sidelined, the Spurs are going to have to get creative in the frontcourt. Sandro Mamukelashvili, Charles Bassey, or Zach Collins will have to step up at the center. Not exactly ideal. But hey, they just pulled off a huge win against the Bucks, so there’s some momentum. It’s going to take another full-team effort, but let’s see if they can pull this one off without their star.
(This is a developing story…)
