Have you noticed something unusual in the golfers’ attire? Being associated with golf, some players wear an MLB patch, which looks strange and raises a lot of questions. But with the handful of golfers, Cameron Young has a strong story that led him to wear it. The 4X PGA Tour winner has been a professional since 2019 and joined the PGA Tour in the 2021-22 season, but his patch story goes even before he turned pro.
The golfer shared how being on family terms with the commissioner led to the encounter and a partnership for lifetime partnership. Young shared, “So it started – the commissioner of baseball, Rob Manfred, is a member at Sleepy Hollow. My parents have known them for 20 years; they’re great people.” He continued saying, “When I first turned pro, they took us to dinner, and afterward Rob leaned in and said, ‘Would you wear the MLB patch?’ And at the time, I had just gotten [PGA Tour Canada] status, or it was just before I got Canada status, so I was nothing — no status anywhere, essentially. And so I said ‘absolutely, I’d love to,’ and they’ve been there ever since, and they’ve been an awesome partner.”
That offer before turning professional felt intimidated, and ever since, he has been associated with them.
