Who Is Taylor Dickson? PGA Tour Pro’s Career, Lifestyle & More Explored

Relief. That’s probably what Taylor Dickson felt after he earned Korn Ferry Tour status in 2019 after five attempts. Talking about this in 2024, when he was finally named #TOURBound, a relieved Dickson, who “finally got the job done,” said, “just proving to myself that I could do it, which was nice.” And he did prove himself. After earning #TOURBound, he secured his full PGA Tour status for the 2025 season. But who is Taylor Dickson, giving fellow star golfers at Zurich Classic a run for their money?

Not much is known about Taylor Dickson; however, we do know a little about his personal life. The Gastonia-raised resident was born on October 7, 1992, to Ann Dickson. In his family, he has his parents and two brothers; however, little is known about them. Dickson’s love for golf started with a very interesting moment: during his first golf game, he hit an approach shot within two feet and was hooked on the beauty of the sport! Before dedicating his heart to golf, Dickson was more focused on sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball. However, it wasn’t until he turned 15 that he began playing seriously. A large part of his love for the sport came from his high school friend, Harold Varner III, who was playing collegiate golf at East Carolina University at that time.

At the school level, Dickson played four years of high school golf at Forestview High School, where he was named co-Golfer of the Year in 2010. Still a rising star in golf, he qualified for the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship at the age of 21. Taylor Dickson’s college life began at Winthrop University (2011-2015), where he created notable memories, including a win at the 2013 Pinetree Intercollegiate and qualifying for that year’s U.S. Amateur at the Country Club of Brookline. During his freshman year, Dickson played in seven tournaments.

In his sophomore year (2012-13), Taylor Dickson competed in nine tournaments and finished tied for 3rd at the BSU Dash Thomas Memorial. During his junior year, he played in 10 events and achieved a stroke average of 74.20, according to the official Winthrop University website. In his senior year, Taylor Dickson participated in four events and recorded his best performance at the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic with a score of 223. Just like his school and college years, his professional career has been just as thrilling.

Taylor Dickson’s journey to the PGA Tour began after he turned professional in 2015. He first played on various mini-tours, including the Florida Elite Tour and Coastal Players Tour, among others. However, it was in 2020 that he made his debut on the KFT. Taylor Dickson’s breakthrough came in 2023 when he earned exemptions into eight KFT events through Q-school. In the fall of 2024, Dickson secured his PGA Tour card based on his finish on the KFT points list. This achievement culminated in his first official start as a rookie at the 2025 Sony Open, where he celebrated the moment with family and friends.

Having made the first cut at the Sony Open, the golfer said, “I kinda went nuts.” Although he finished T52 at his first PGA Tour event, Dickson bagged a whopping $17,660. His performance after that wasn’t exactly brilliant, as he missed the cut six times before finally making his mark at the Texas Children’s Houston Open (T39). However, he is now hitting it strong at the ongoing Zurich Classic, and part of the reason we are seeing good performance from him is because of his family.

In the presence of his family during his first start as a Tour rookie, the American golfer said, “It’s my family; they’ve been with me the whole time. And it makes the week better, no doubt. We’ll be playing the next two days, and it means the world. We’re gonna have fun.” One of the family members present during the game was his wife, LeeAnn. And it’s no wonder they share a lovely relationship!
