Each season in MLB brings a fresh wave of talent, with young stars stepping into the spotlight and making their mark. This year, the name is Jacob Misiorowski, the electrifying right-hander for the Brewers. With a blazing fastball, towering presence on the mound, and a fierce competitive edge, he’s quickly shaping up to be one of the breakout sensations of the year.

At just 23 years old, Misiorowski has already captured the imagination of Brewers fans and turned heads across the league. On June 12, Misiorowski made his major league debut, and he proved why he’s here. In his MLB debut against the Cardinals, he delivered five hitless innings, showcasing the poise of a veteran and the stuff of a future ace.

Now, as the league begins to take notice, it’s the perfect moment to trace the journey that brought Jacob Misiorowski to this stage.

Who is Jacob Misiorowski? All to know about him, his parents, and more

For the unversed, Jacob Misiorowski grew up in Grain Valley, Missouri. And he played high school ball at Grain Valley High. As a junior, he put up some impressive numbers. A 9–2 record with a 1.48 ERA, and earned All-State honors. Initially, Misiorowski had committed to play college baseball at Oklahoma State. But he later changed course and chose to start his college career at Crowder College instead.

His freshman year was mostly a wash as he only pitched in two games before redshirting. However, during that time, he made the decision to transfer to LSU for the rest of his college eligibility. He started his journey to the biggest stage. This month, when Misiorowski made his debut, his parents, Tom and Crystal Misiorowski, were right there in the stands cheering him on.

What’s encouraging is that they, along with a group, made the 7-hour road trip from Missouri to watch his first game in the big leagues. A moment they weren’t going to miss. So, they went to a local print shop in Grain Valley (on Friday) and got customized shirts with “Here for the Miz” printed on them. Cute, isn’t it? While speaking with a media outlet, Momma Crystal informed, “I went to a local print shop….(and said) I need to get these shirts printed and I need to do it kind of quick…. I called them up on Tuesday morning. I said, ‘Hey, can you print that like today? Because I’m leaving tomorrow.” The hurry, eagerness, and wait, all emotions ran through Misiorowski’s parents’ veins.

When they finally got it, they rushed to support their son’s relentless work ethic. After all, for Cherry, “Jacob is an amazing kid (who has) worked very hard for this.” She also revealed that Misiorowski “likes the Midwest,” its pitching lab, and the atmosphere. So, for him, “This is one of his dream teams,” where the athlete could prove what he can do!

A dream MLB debut: A look at Misiorowski’s baseball journey

Well, Misiorowski’s journey to the biggest stage was nothing short of a dream. It started when the Brewers picked up Misiorowski with the 63rd overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft. Well, they surely believed in his potential and went all-out to get him. For starters, the Brewers signed him for a hefty $2.35 million bonus, well above the $1.1 million slot value for that pick! You know a talent is elite when the suitors such aggressive to get him.

Now, heading into the 2025 season, the hype around Misiorowski only grew. Baseball America ranked him as the Brewers’ No. 3 prospect. And when he finally got the call-up, the anticipation was sky-high. So, making his debut against the Cardinals, he didn’t just meet expectations, he blew them away. Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings, becoming just the ninth pitcher since 1901 to toss at least five no-hit frames in their MLB debut!

What’s even more eye-popping is what Jacob Misiorowski did in his second start, this time against the Twins. On Friday night, he was sitting at 100–101 mph throughout the outing and averaging 100.4 mph on his fastball. And it’s not just the heater that’s turning heads. Misiorowski’s 95–96 mph slider is unlike anything the game has seen.

So, if you thought Paul Skenes had the most dominant debut in recent memory, there’s a new name in the conversation now. Misiorowski is here, and he’s coming in hot, literally. While it is too early to conclude on a young talent, Misiorowski’s debut placed him as a stallion for the long race. Let’s now wait and watch what’s coming from the lad.
