The Miss Maine USA pageant is underway in Portland this weekend and includes some high-profile contestants. Among them is Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, who was actually a runner-up in last year’s competition. She’s competing again this year, and the former Patriots coach was even spotted on the sidelines in the front row, cheering on his 24-year-old girlfriend. And she will be facing Isabelle St. Cyr from Monson, who’s making history as the first transgender woman to compete in the pageant.

Who is Isabelle St. Cyr? Everything to know about her journey to Miss Maine USA

Isabelle St. Cyr, a 24-year-old from Monson, Maine, is making history as the first transgender woman to compete in the Miss Maine USA pageant. Her journey to this milestone began in early childhood; she recalls recognizing her gender identity as early as age 3 or 4 and articulating it by age 10. “I think it’s really important to shine a light on trans women living their lives and living them very unapologetically in small towns and rural communities, because we exist everywhere,” St. Cyr said. “I always wanted to be a mom. I knew I always wanted to be the feminine role in life.”

Isabelle St. Cyr began her social transition in middle school, experimenting with makeup, and by the time she graduated high school, she had changed her name and pronouns. Despite facing bullying, she credits a strong support system for helping her navigate these challenges. “Overall, I really feel blessed that I had those people in my corner because that’s what got me through high school,” she said.

At 22, St. Cyr embraced a rural lifestyle by starting a farm in Monson, where she raises ducks, chickens, sheep, cows, and pigs. Her participation in the Miss Maine USA pageant not only marks a personal achievement but also serves as an inspiration for inclusivity and representation in the pageant world.

Growing up, she loved watching pageants like Miss USA and Miss Universe and always dreamed of being on that stage herself. Now, as she competes, she hopes to spread positivity and inspire the next generation. Isabelle found out she was making history after she signed up, telling reporters, “I found out about a month after I had signed up that I was going to be the first. It’s definitely an honor, but I hope that it’s the first of many. I hope that we continue to have more beautiful trans women representing us on the stage.” It’s worth noting she signed up for the pageant before the political climate around transgender athletes in sports really heated up.

Speaking on what it feels like to be a trans person right now, Isabelle didn’t hold back. “It feels like kind of shooting really low because we are less than 1% of the population. So to be making all of these rules and laws and coming after, you know, the couple of trans people that we have in our communities really is quite sad,” she said.

While there’s limited public info about her personal life or parents, she shared that her background in dancing and cheerleading growing up definitely helped prepare her for competing on a big stage like this one.

Why are Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, and Isabelle St. Cyr competing against each other?

The 2025 Miss Maine USA pageant has garnered significant attention, not only because of Isabelle St. Cyr’s historic participation but also due to the involvement of Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of former NFL coach Bill Belichick. Both contestants have advanced to the finals, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown.

Hudson, representing Hancock, Maine, is no stranger to the pageant circuit. She was the first runner-up in the 2024 Miss Maine USA competition and previously placed third runner-up in the Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2020 pageant. Despite her experience, Hudson is currently facing stiff competition in the online voting segment, ranking seventh with just 146 votes, while St. Cyr holds the second position with 447 votes. The online winner receives the People’s Choice Award and an automatic semifinal berth.

Both Hudson and Isabelle St. Cyr seemed confident in the preliminary rounds. Now, all 17 contestants will be judged across three main categories: an interview, swimsuit, and evening gown. The ones with the highest scores will then move on as semifinalists. The final results for the Miss Maine USA 2025 pageant are expected later today, Sunday, and depending on who takes the crown, the outcome could really mark a significant moment in pageant history.
