If there is any golfer who has been among the favorites in a golf community, it is Bryson DeChambeau. The American, with his performance and, of course, YouTube channel, has made an impact on every golf enthusiast. With his appearance at the course, he is among the most rooted players. However, unfortunately, the golfer in the ongoing season has only bagged one victory, i.e., the LIV Golf Korea, which has raised concerns. Other than that, his performance at the majors earned praise, as he fell short by the barest of margins to clinch the title.
He finished T5 at the Masters and T2 at the PGA Championship. But after the disheartening results, the golfer has realized his flaws. After the loss, he said, “Definitely had an opportunity to beat Rory [McIlroy at The Masters] and definitely had an opportunity to give Scottie [Scheffler] a run this week. I was leading after 16 holes on the third round, but man, I just didn’t get it done.” Now, with the lessons from the course, the golfer is all set to polish his skills that have been pointed out to affect his performance before the third major of the year.
Up next on the calendar for DeChambeau is LIV Golf Virginia. The tournament is teeing off from June 6-8, 2025, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. This will be a pivotal event for the 31-year-old, as he would not want to continue the title-missing spree with just a few strokes. Soon after the LIV Golf event, he will be set to defend his major title, which is the US Open. This one will take place from June 12-15 at Oakmont.
Last year, he won the nail-biting thriller on the 18th putt, beating Rory McIlroy and extending his major drought. The moment of his win was exhilarating and still feels fresh in the memory, but with ongoing performance struggles, can he get the form back to defend? It remains to be seen.
Well, the worry of missing the title might be concerning, but in reality, a similar feat in 2024 is being repeated by the golfer with his performance.
Bryson DeChambeau repeating performance from 2024
With the performance of Bryson, having just one win in 2025 is concerning fans, but in reality, it is a step up as compared to 2024. The golfer won just one event, which was the US Open. But interestingly, for his major performance, the same feat is being repeated. At the 2024 Masters, he was placed T6 with his score of 2 under, 286, while in 2025 as well, he was T5 with 7 under, 281.
Even for his PGA Championship, the result has been identically similar. He was placed runner-up consecutively. He was one stroke behind last year, but in 2025, he fell 5 strokes behind winner. Considering this, the golfer has hinted at major changes that he will be adopting for his appearance at the US Open.
He said, “I’ve got to learn how to be a little more precise with the wind, not let the wind affect the ball as much. It’s a tough task to do because I laid it so high, and the ball just kind of moves it in the air. I’ve got to figure that out. I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve that I’m going to be working on and hopefully bring for the U.S. Open, but I’ve got to get some equipment here soon.”
With the identical year’s performance and plans for improving on it, can the golfer defend his title at the US Open? What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comments below.
