Where Is Aiemann Zahabi From? Ethnicity, Religion, & More

Aiemann Zahabi doesn’t talk much, but his fists are making plenty of noise. The Montreal-born bantamweight has been quietly building a serious résumé in the UFC. Sure, being the younger brother of legendary coach Firas Zahabi (yes, the same Firas who helped mold Georges St-Pierre) came with pressure. But Aiemann isn’t riding coattails anymore. He’s putting together a run that’s got fight fans paying close attention.

He made his UFC debut in 2017. Got a win. Then took two tough losses. A lot of fighters crumble after that, but Zahabi didn’t. He came back sharper, and today, he’s sitting at 12-2 and riding a five-fight win streak. This includes a gritty victory over veteran Pedro Munhoz in 2024 at UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Albazi.

And now? He’s heading into the biggest fight of his career. Zahabi is set to throw down with the one and only Jose Aldo at UFC 315, and it’s all going down in his hometown. Yeah, Montreal’s own is facing off against a living legend on Canadian soil, with GSP rumored to be in his corner. Before the action kicks off, let’s take a moment to get familiar with Aiemann Zahabi- his ethnicity, nationality, and religion.

What is Aiemann Zahabi’s ethnicity and nationality?

Zahabi is Canadian, but his family is originally from Lebanon. That Lebanese heritage is a big part of who he is, even though he proudly represents Canada on the world stage. He got into martial arts when he was 8 years old, and it wasn’t long before his older brother became the guiding force in his training.

At the UFC 315 media day, he said, “It’s going to be huge for me. I’m a proud Montrealer, I’m proud to represent Quebec and Canada. It’s a great country, some awkward things happening on the world stage, but it’s nice to do my part, and I would love to represent them properly Saturday with a great performance,”

Coming back to his family, not many things are disclosed. However, Aimenn once revealed that it was his father who pushed him and also his brother into martial arts. Their father wanted them to learn how to protect themselves in School. Soon, he told Firas he wanted to quit and start training full-time, following in his brother’s footsteps.

His elder brother was already deep into Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu at the time, and since then, they have been training together. Since we now have some idea of how the dynamics between Aiemann and his family work, let’s examine which religion he practices.

Which religion does Aiemann Zahabi follow?

Aiemann Zahabi practices Islam, just like the rest of his family. He doesn’t speak about it much in public, but it’s no secret that his brother Firas has shared quite a bit about their faith and how it plays a role in their lives. Given how close the two are, it’s safe to say the Younger Zahabi shares a similar perspective. He’s even competed during Ramadan. Back in June 2017, he picked up a win over Ricardo Ramos during the holy month.

Religion is definitely a pillar in  Zahabi’s life, but it’s clear that his work ethic is just as important. His strict training regimen has molded him into the fighter we see today. And now, with the biggest fight of his career ahead, going toe-to-toe with none other than the ‘King of Rio,’ Jose Aldo, at UFC 315. He is ready to fight, especially with Georges St-Pierre expected to be in his corner. You can bet the preparation is going to be dialed in like never before.
