With the much-hyped Fever vs. Wings showdown kicking off August, Dallas was at least glad to have their best soldier suited up. Just until they got a taste of what Indiana fans have been feeling all season. The Caitlin vs. Paige clash didn’t happen, and it’s no longer just on Clark’s shoulders. With 3:49 left in the third, Paige Bueckers took a fall, and things went downhill fast. Even as Lexie Hull reached out to help her up, Bueckers looked visibly frustrated.
In a way, she brushed off the gesture and stormed straight to the bench. Moments later, she broke down emotionally, head down. Through this all, the Wings Contract Athletic Trainer Allison Russell tried to console her with a hand on her back. But Paige wasn’t having any of it. Her body language said it all. She was frustrated, helpless, and in deep dislike of being sidelined. Haley Jones subbed in for her, and for a second, it felt like the air had been sucked out of the building.
Fever own a 12-point lead in Dallas, and Paige Bueckers just went down on the court. Looked like a knee to thigh area, then she was in a lot of pain.

The good news though: her walk to the bench suggested the hit wasn’t that serious. And per insider Grant Afseth, she was back from the locker room and on the bench within minutes. So for now, fingers crossed, because August was supposed to be the month Paige lit it up.
