What Happened to Jonathan Kuminga? Concerning Update Emerges as Injury Haunts Warriors Star After Locker Room Exit

Jonathan Kuminga took a hard fall Sunday night, and Warriors fans are holding their breath.

Midway through the second quarter against the Spurs, Kuminga attacked the rim, driving hard down the right side of the lane. But as he went up for a layup, two defenders contested the shot, knocking him off balance midair. He hit the floor hard and stayed down for a moment before slowly making his way to the locker room with 6:59 left in the quarter.

The worst part? No foul was called.

Kuminga, who was already working his way back from a previous ankle sprain, appeared to tell teammates, “I’m OK,” but he walked gingerly alongside Warriors medical director Drew Yoder. And according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Jonathan Kuminga: Right ankle soreness, per Warriors. Will not return. That’s the same ankle that kept him out for 31 games.

Sunday marked just his ninth game back after missing 31 games with that same right ankle injury. He finished with 4 points and a rebound in 7 minutes before exiting. It’s unclear how severe the aggravation is, but with the Warriors battling for playoff positioning, Dub Nation is hoping for the best.
