With the playoffs looming closer, the Timberwolves seem to have lost a grip on their momentum. They have lost three of their last four games and fallen to the eighth seed. Not what you would expect from a team that just made it to the West Finals last year. So, they headed into tonight’s Suns clash hoping to regain their groove and get back to their winning ways. But things took an unfortunate turn when Anthony Edwards was forced to leave the game after a nasty collision with Kevin Durant.
The incident occurred in the closing minutes of the opening quarter. With the ball in his hands, Edwards put the moves on KD and rose for a three-pointer. The ball hit iron and fell straight to Tyus Jones’ hands. Seeing an opening, Durant sprinted to the other end for a fast break opportunity, but Jones’ outlet pass was intercepted by a flying Ant-Man. Unfortunately, the two stars collided during the play and KD’s elbow struck Edwards’ nose.
Shaken up by the hit, the Timberwolves star fell to the floor and covered his face in immense agony. Sure enough, the play was stopped and his teammates and staff rushed to check on him. In a scary sight, Edwards lay on the floor for several minutes before eventually heading to the locker room with a towel over his face.
