Watch: Giants Clips Reveal How Jaxson Dart Absolutely Impressed Brian Daboll During Pre-Draft Meeting

5 min read

Even before Jaxson Dart came to the draft, we knew this guy was something else. His college career numbers screamed elite. And the Giants knew it, too. They chopped off three major picks and handed them on a plate to Houston to get this guy. The three picks? As per Adam Schefter, they were the 2nd and 3rd rounders, and a third for next year. That’s how much Gaints value Jaxson Dart.

And that’s not all, they’ve even kept tabs on him during his time at Ole Miss. Before the ‘24 season ended, GM Joe Schoen could be seen at an Ole Miss game, presumably looking for their next picks. And Dart has done nothing but impress the front office since then.

As per The Giants Report’s post on X, Jaxson Dart can be seen in a clip with Daboll and Tierney. Tierney grills Dart about a likely protection scenario and Dart doesn’t waste a second dropping all the right answers. At the end of it all, Tierney approves with a simple “Great”. And HC Daboll gives his nod with a “Good job buddy.” There is another clip by Fireside Giants that’s making rounds on X. In that clip it’s Daboll who’s grilling the QB with throw scenarios and again, in a split-second, Dart has the right answer. There was already very little doubt about his first-round stock, and with these clips, Dart has cemented himself even more.

His four-year college career has the numbers that make him a legit first-round pick. He amassed a massive 11,970 passing yards with 81 TDs. If that wasn’t enough, he also had 1,541 rushing yards and 14 rushing TDs. Schoen’s presence at the Ole Miss game doesn’t feel like a chance. It feels like a calculated chess-move worthy of Magnus Carlsen. Jaxson’s pre-draft meeting further erased any doubt in the minds of HC Brian Daboll and QB Coach Shea Tierney

It’s not an understatement when we say the New York Giants love Jaxson Dart. In a presser after the 1st round, HC Daboll was all praises for him. Daboll said, “We’re going to do everything we can to develop (Dart) and bring him along. I like the way (Dart) plays; I like his competitive fire, and I like his accuracy. I like his ability to push the ball down the field and his athletic ability to run with the football.” Coming from the HC, those are big words of praise. And as they do all they can “to develop and bring him along”, the vision is crystal clear. Jaxson Dart is going to polish himself and rise to be the franchise QB.

Jaxson Dart: The future QB1 for Giants?

There were a lot of questions about who’d be the starting QB for the Giants. There’s Tommy DeVito from 2023. And then there are the free agency additions this year, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. But in the presser post first-round, HC Daboll answered the question once and for all. “Russ will be our starter, and that’s how it will be once we get started here in the spring.

So, Russell Wilson is the starting QB for this season, with Winston and DeVito bringing up the rear. And Dart? He has the opportunity to watch the veterans, Wilson and Winston, along with DeVito in action and learn their playbooks. Once developed in line with the team’s expectations, there’s no doubt Dart’s holding the torch for Giants as their QB1. As his mentors might go away soon, this chance becomes even higher.

Russell Wilson’s got a one-year deal with the Giants, and Jameis Winston has a two-year deal for himself. While Wilson will bring his experience to the field as QB1, neither Wilson nor Winston are long-term solutions. That leaves Tommy DeVito, and of course, Jaxson Dart. As Dart has already impressed Daboll, Tierney and Schoen, we know what is expected of him. And he’s pumped to be with the Giants.

As per Dan Duggan, “Jaxson Dart was asked if he thinks his personality is a fit for New York. His response: ‘No doubt’!” Duggan further noted, “When asked why, he said he has an edge to him and everyone in the city has an edge. ‘Let’s get to it’!” That’s a guy who’s ready and raring to go.

As Russell Wilson leads the pack this new season, fans will be eager for glimpses of Jaxson Dart’s development, too. Dart’s skills are a sure thing. What remains to be seen is how he will develop his competitive edge and bring it to the forefront. This is a QB1 in the making, folks. And we can’t wait to see what his ‘edge’ gives to the Giants’ offense.
