WATCH: Chaos Unfolds as ATP Star’s Behavior Turns Heads at Canadian Open After Loss

In tennis, smashing a racket is a pretty common thing, and often it’s considered unsportsmanlike conduct. But why do players do that, actually? Perhaps, players do it out of frustration due to poor play. In fact, several players have faced penalties including hefty fines, for breaking rackets. Some fans disapprove of racket smashing, while others see it as a display of human emotions. Just a few days ago, we saw Russian star making the headlines for a similar reason after his exit from the 2025 Citi Open. Now, a similar thing gets caught up at the 2025 Canadian Open.

Talking about Medvedev’s incident first, after losing to the lucky loser Corentin Moutet by 6-1,4-6,4-6, the Russian couldn’t keep his calm and was seen throwing his racket across the court in frustration. Following that incident, he repeatedly hurled a metal water bottle at the ground, and after witnessing this insane moment, loud boos and jeers came in from the crowd. Recently, a similar moment took place after the end of the R32 match between the in-form Italian Flavio Cobolli and Fabian Marozsan in the Canadian Open.

The match started with Cobolli taking a quick lead by wrapping up the first set by 6-2. But then, the Hungarian came back strongly in the second set and won it by 6-4. However, despite that strong comeback, he failed to seal the deal in the third set. Hence, Cobolli managed to secure a spot in the R16 of the Canadian Open by winning the contest in a three-set thriller (6-2,4-6,6-3). But what surprised the fans inside the stadium was Marozsan smashing his racket across the court shortly after failing to stop the Italian securing a win from the match point. His angry outburst after the match has now raised the eyebrows of many in the tennis world.
