Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Delivers Heartwarming Second Homer for Heartbroken Blue Jays Fan After Missed Catch

5 min read

How often do we see the baseball fans not leaving a single opportunity to grab hold of a ball that’s been homered over the fences? Well, quite a few times. And why not? A dropped home run ball might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity missed. Well, a similar thing happened with a young fan recently. He missed a chance to catch the home run ball hit by a Toronto Blue Jays star. But guess what, he didn’t have to wait too long, either.

It was a day to remember for the Blue Jays’ fans, who had wanted to see such a comprehensive win for a long time. The Toronto Blue Jays were standing third in the American League East. They finally managed to secure an 11-7 win against the Oakland Athletics. Their third baseman, Ernie Clement, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both managed to hit home runs. However, the young fan stole all the spotlight and Guerrero Jr. played a big part in it.

Guess how it happened?

It all started in the second inning when Ernie Clement managed to blast off a homer that went right towards the young fan. However, it bobbled up from his hand and was caught by another fan. This left him feeling disappointed. While the person accompanying him looked equally sad with the boy’s reaction, there was nothing to do.

However, to everyone’s surprise, the young boy got a second chance. This time, the ball was hit by the Blue Jays’ first baseman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who came to bat after a few hitters. And this time, the young fan didn’t repeat the same mistake again.

An absolute heartwarming moment to witness and savor a lifetime!

More surprising was the fact that the homer was hit in the exact same spot. The boy, who must have been shedding some tears after that missed opportunity, looked all elated after taking the catch. And why not? After all, it’s hit by someone who is a fan favorite, who has already posted eight home runs this season at an average of .280 with a .389 OBP and a .820 OPS.

It’s though not yet confirmed how the ball went to the same spot. Especially considering the fact that despite having 24,000 spectators at the stadium, the home run ball went to the boy two times, even after being hit by two different batters. However, just like the Toronto Blue Jays‘ win against the Athletics made everyone happy, this small incident also brought smiles to the faces of everyone, too.

The lucky boy hasn’t been identified yet. But getting a double chance for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will remain etched in his memory throughout his life. And guess what, his support for the Blue Jays will likely get even stronger, making him grow as one of the diehard fans. Maybe just like one of us among the millions of fans?

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s impressive hitting powered the Blue Jays to a massive victory

It was an eventful night for the Toronto Blue Jays. Not just because they acquired a win against the Athletics. But also because of the small drama that made the day of the young fan at the stadium. And as expected, their superstar, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was at the center of it. Despite going through some struggles in the early part of the season, he has finally bounced back, stronger than before.

The 26-year-old Blue Jays star finally managed to record his eighth home run this season, which laid the foundation for the win. He impressed with his bat as he went 4-1, scoring a run and two RBIs. Not to forget his batting average that also peaked up to .280 with a .820 OPS. We could go on and on about Vladdy Jr. and how he led the team to victory, but other players also made a big difference. Any guesses who they are?

In addition to driving in five runs, Blue Jays player Ernie Clement hit a home run that escaped the young fan’s gloves. Clement and Vladdy Jr., both received good support from the 27-year-old shortstop, Bo Bichette. He posted a two-run home run. Finally snatching the win in the flurry of runs that the Blue Jays scored against the Athletics.

The team now stands at a combined score of 23-7 in just two games. And it’s enough to show how the Blue Jays’ offense has got stronger and  they now look like a formidable team to reckon with. Throughout the game, their pitching staff also displayed some encouraging signs. The Athletics were only able to muster four hits because Jose Berrios and the other pitchers were able to maintain control of the game perfectly.
