Vikings’ JJ McCarthy Announces Major Injury News After Kevin O’Connell’s Urge to Sign 30 YO Journeyman QB

2 min read

When the Vikings drafted J.J. McCarthy, you know he probably felt that mix of excitement and pressure. But the NFL had other plans. Before he could even take a real snap, boom—knee injury. A full meniscus tear in his right knee threw a wrench in his rookie season before it even started. Fast forward to now, after all the quarterback chaos—including those Sam Darnold comeback rumors and the Aaron Rodgers buzz—McCarthy is finally ready to take the reins in Minnesota.

However, there have been certain rumors about his knee recovery. Some say the guy’s still recovering while others suggested that he might not fit by week 1 of the 2o25 season. The kicker? Well, the 22-year-old QB recently confirmed that he’s 100% fit and ready to lead the Vikings in the next season.

On Tuesday, McCarthy made a guest appearance on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams Show, where Kay asked him, “I was trying to translate what it means that you’re here and you’re the new addition. It’s your first year. The knee must be doing pretty well, huh?” In response, McCarthy admitted that he was 100%.

“Fantastic, yes, yes. I mean, I would say I’m 100%,” he said, but, you know… just staying consistent with the rehab process and not wavering from that and just staying disciplined with all the outside stuff and making sure, you know, I’m not chopping too much wood and doing all that fun stuff.”

This is a developing story. Stay Tuned!
