Usain Bolt Publicly Refuses WNBA Commentator’s Request During A’ja Wilson Meet-Up

2 min read

Sports commentator, Ron Thulin, and former basketball star Fran Harris took the mic in the Dallas Wings vs. Las Vegas Aces face-off at College Park Center, Arlington, TX. And for the game, Jackie Young poured in 24 points and 8 assists, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a commanding 106–80 win over the Dallas Wings. Even the bench strength was key: Jewell Loyd logged 20 points in her first off‑the‑bench appearance, while Kierstan Bell added a career-high 19. But surprisingly, there was something for the track and field fans as well – Usain Bolt in the audience, and Thulin revealed how Bolt refused his challenge.

The crowd in the College Park Center roared when they found the 8-time Olympic gold medalist sitting in the crowd among them. WNBA posted a reel in collaboration with the official Instagram handle of the Jamaican and captioned, “@usainbolt pulled up to the W The eight-time Olympic gold medalist is in the building at College Park Center for Aces vs Wings. LVA vs DAL | League Pass.” But what had the fans laughing was the commentary at the time when Bolt came on screen. Ron Thulin had a confession.

The sports commentator said, “How about that? Usain Bolt, I challenged him to go one lap here from end line to end line. He said no.” The man with the mic, especially known as the main play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Wings in the WNBA, wanted to challenge the sprinting legend who is known for leaving his opponents in the dust. Well, that was surely a joke, but end line to end line race between Bolt and Thulin here at the court in College Park Center would have been a sight.
