US Gymnastics Gives Update on Stephen Nedoroscick’s Life After Being Out of National Team

4 min read

May 8, 2025– Stephen Nedoroscik donned a gray bottom and a white vest, hopped on the pommel horse, swinging like he did in Paris. Recreating what he did in the French capital, the Olympian takes hold of the pommels and jumps atop the apparatus – the only thing missing here was him removing his glasses and being Superman. The very next moment, he hopped on, his hands taking a firm grip on the pommel, and he went around in circles. His legs floated above the pommels, defying gravity. The man twisted and landed back perfectly on the mat. With all this glory, where is this champion headed? Well, we do have an answer!

After a dynamic 2024, which included winning an Olympic bronze medal in Paris, finishing fourth on Dancing with the Stars, and co-hosting the 2025 DWTS Live! Tour, Nedoroscik took a brief hiatus from gymnastics. He returned to the gym in April 2025. On May 12, 2025, he announced via Instagram that he had renewed his contract with EVO Gymnastics in Sarasota, Florida, and resumed training under head coach Syque Caesar. But his return to elite gymnastics was still in the works. Well, not anymore. Superman is back!

The National Governing Body of Gymnastics in the United States took to their Instagram to announce the team for the Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. They captioned, “MOOD because single-session tickets for #XfinityChamps are on sale now! National Teams & National Titles will be decided this summer in New Orleans! Ticket link in our bio!” The 2025 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships are scheduled to take place from August 7–10, 2025, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. But what attracted the fans were the pictures of the gymnasts they had posted while announcing that they would be declaring the national team in New Orleans.

Among Joscelyn Roberson, Frederick Richard, Hezly Rivera, and Asher Hong, Stephen Nedoroscik’s picture was also part of the carousel post, donning a singlet with a dark navy blue base, complemented by bold red and silver graphic patterns, along with red trim around the shoulders and arms. At the 2024 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships, the former DWTS star secured the national title with a top score of 30.000, outperforming competitors Patrick Hoopes (29.25) and Brandon Dang (29.05).

Surprisingly, after successfully bringing a medal to the USA after years and aeons of waiting, Stephen Nedoroscik was left out of the national team upon his return to gymnastics.

When Stephen Nedoroscik was left out of the National Team

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nedoroscik clinched two bronze medals– one in the men’s pommel horse final with a score of 15.300, and another as part of the U.S. men’s gymnastics team, marking the team’s first Olympic medal since 2008. His performance earned him the nickname Pommel Horse Guy, and he drew comparisons to Clark Kent due to his glasses. Following his Olympic success, Nedoroscik took a hiatus from gymnastics, during which he participated in Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars, finishing fourth with partner Rylee Arnold. He also co-hosted the show’s live tour.

On May 3, 2025, Nedoroscik’s name was notably absent from the list of gymnasts confirmed for the upcoming Senior Pan American Championships in June. The 2025 Pan American Championships are set to feature a roster of emerging talents such as Asher Hong, Brandon Dang, Taylor Burkhart, Josh Karnes, and Taylor Christopulos. Interestingly, only Asher Hong was part of the Paris Olympic team.

Nedoroscik’s absence from the Pan Am team surprised many, especially after his Olympic success. Though no official reason was given, it’s likely due to his recent break from competition and the focus on younger gymnasts who have been actively competing this season.
