Dana White barely missed being a bright red target for the fight fans. We all know how the UFC head honcho loves to hype up the fights, usually a day before the scheduled time. But this time, he chose a Thursday evening to announce the fights for UFC Vegas 105. However, there was one slight goof-up. Even though White was quick to address it, the fighting community didn’t miss their chance to take a jab.
White released a video on his Instagram profile where he addressed the exciting fights scheduled for UFC on ESPN 65: Josh Emmett vs Lerone Murphy. In his classic announcement style, the UFC CEO said, “What’s up, everybody? It’s fight week again, live this Saturday night, from the Apex here in Las Vegas.” He hyped up the main event for the bout, pointing out that Emmet held the world record for most knockouts in the featherweight division, while his opponent, Lerone Murphy was an undefeated fighter with 15 wins in his pocket.
The UFC boss went on to say, “This is a bad— fun card. The prelims start at 6 o’clock on the East Coast, main card starts at 9 o’clock on East Coast. The entire card is on ESPN or ESPN+.” So what really was the goof-up?
Well, White declared that the fight was “tomorrow.” UFC on ESPN 65 is going down on Saturday, but a ‘tomorrow’ in a post on a Thursday meant that the fight was being announced on a Friday. Nevertheless, White was quick to make things right. He edited the caption, which now read, “If you don’t know, now you know. #UFCVegas105 is LIVE and FREE SATURDAY on @espn.”
Even though White addressed his mistake within minutes, the fighting realm was fast enough to have a look at it. And unfortunately, the fight fans weren’t about to let up too easily. Taking to the comments section, they made sure that the UFC head honcho knew about his mistake.
Fight fans remind Dana White of his UFC Vegas 105 goof-up
Many fans took up a tone of disbelief while addressing White’s slip-up. One of the fans commented, “Tomorrow? Ufc on fridays now ?” Meanwhile, many others decided to let the UFC boss man face the truth that “There’s no fights tomorrow.” Another fan commented, “it’s not tommorow dana.” One more fan added, “Tomorrows not Saturday dana oil up.”
Nevertheless, there were many others who felt a surge of excitement through their veins because of the fumble. After all, the beginning of the weekend has been considered to be quite exciting. One fan claimed, “Favorite day of the week.” Another enthusiastic fan commented, “Fight night on a friday?! LETS. GO.” The comments did seem to make fun of White’s slip-up. But the fans were right on point when they took a stance for Fight Night on a Friday. A comment read, “I would like to see some Friday night fights once in awhile .”
But Dana White wouldn’t probably have expected to witness ‘F— It Fridays’ in the comments. ‘F— It Fridays’ were the episodes where the UFC head honcho tried out weird food combinations like stuffed pumpkins, cotton candy burrito, waffle taco, and many more. A comment weighed in on that and read, “tomorrows f— it friday dana.” One more comment went like, “Bring back the F it Fridays!”
Thankfully, the 55-year-old fight promoter was quick to notice his errors and fixed them in time. But what are your thoughts on White’s slip-up? Would you like to have Fight Nights on Fridays? Or would a return of regularly programmed ‘F— It Fridays’ be welcome instead? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
