UFC 315: Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena Height, Reach, & Walk Around Weight Comparison

4 min read

The Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is gearing up to host the UFC 315 main event. Belal Muhammad is set to return to the Octagon after nearly a year away. The difference? Last time, he was a contender—now, he’s the champion! And, he’ll be defending his title against the formidable Jack Della Maddalena. ‘Remember The Name’ has been vocal about how he plans to break his opponent, but we all know the Aussie brings a relentless, never-say-die attitude.

This fight has shaped up to be more than just a battle for the gold. Both fighters are out to make a statement. It’s skill versus skill, JDM’s sharp boxing against Belal’s relentless wrestling. The tactics will be tested and laid out right there in the cage. But there’s another key factor at play is their physical differences. Height, reach, and weight could all tip the scales. So, let’s break down who holds the advantage in that department.

Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena height and reach comparison

The champion, Belal Muhammad, stands at 5’11” with a 72″ reach. His opponent, Jack Della Maddalena, shares the same height but holds a slight edge with a 73″ reach. This fight isn’t just close in terms of style, their physical builds are nearly identical too. When there’s a clear size difference, it’s often easier to craft a game plan. But in this case, with such evenly matched frames, how each fighter looks to gain an edge purely through physicality is going to be an interesting aspect to watch at UFC 315.

JDM holds just a one-inch reach advantage, which might give him a slight edge in boxing exchanges, but it’s a minimal difference. The real spectacle will be how he applies constant pressure and pushes the pace. On the other hand, for Belal, the intrigue lies in how he mixes up his striking and times his single and double-leg takedowns against an opponent nearly identical in stature. Now that we’ve broken down their height and reach, let’s take a look at who’s coming in heavier.

Who weighs more, Belal Muhammad or Jack Della Maddalena?

Just like height and reach, weight can play a crucial role in shaping the course of this fight. Both men compete in the welterweight division, meaning they’ll officially weigh in at 170 lbs. However, it’s their walk-around weight, the weight they carry when they’re not cutting, that could make a real difference. That extra size or strength after rehydration might impact how they move, absorb damage, or control positions inside the cage.

Belal Muhammad is definitely adequately sized for the division, but he revealed to ESPN that before fighting Gilbert Burns at UFC 288, he was over 19 lbs above the limit just two weeks out from the fight. He didn’t mention exactly how much he weighed, but it can be assumed that his walk-around weight easily crosses the 200 lbs mark. For Jack Della Maddalena, it’s also quite close. The Aussie hasn’t revealed an exact number either, but we can make an assumption.

JDM fought Pete Rodriguez at UFC 270: Gane vs. Ngannou, where he officially weighed in at the welterweight limit but stepped into the cage rehydrated at 189 lbs. While it’s tough to directly link rehydrated weight with walk-around weight, having a number like that gives us a ballpark. So, it’s fair to assume that when he’s not in fight camp, his walk-around weight can easily hover around 200 lbs, especially considering he’s roughly the same size as Belal

So, with that being said, how do you think Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena will tailor their tactics at UFC 315 main event, given that they are almost similar in height, reach, and weight? Please let us know your thoughts by commenting below
