UConn Hits Another Bump as Geno Auriemma Scrambles to Fix Locker Room Woes in Tennessee Clash

The injury bug refuses to leave Storrs! From the beginning of the season, the Huskies have been suffering from an injured roster, one after another. Be it standout guard Paige Bueckers or Azzi Fudd, it’s rare for UConn to be at full strength. Even now, with Bueckers back and UConn seemingly finding some stability, the team has taken another hit.

Ahead of the game against Tennessee, redshirt sophomore Ice Brady, a key frontcourt presence, was listed out due to a left shoulder injury she suffered in practice earlier this week. Before the game, she was seen sporting a hefty brace and did not participate in warmups.

Appears UConn will be without Ice Brady against Tennessee tonight, she’s wearing a large brace on her left arm and not participating in warmups.

With Brady sidelined, the team is now left with only two forwards—freshman Sarah Strong and sophomore Jana El Alfy. This puts even more strain on an already injury-ridden roster. Head coach Geno Auriemma has spent the season juggling lineups, and tonight will be no different. Sixth-year guard/forward Aubrey Griffin can provide minutes in the post, but at 6-foot-1, she lacks the size and physicality that Brady brings.

Brady, who averages 17.1 minutes per game, has been a steady contributor, adding 4.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and nearly two assists per contest. Now, UConn must once again adapt on the fly. With every lineup shake-up, the Huskies’ depth and resilience will be tested—yet again.
