“This is the truth, the gospel truth, nothing but the truth—I’m done. Every good dog has its day. Like a great Roman leader said, there will always be somebody else to fight.” Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury once uttered these words during an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV. This was after he had defeated Dillian Whyte in April 2022 via a sixth-round stoppage in front of a 94,000 crowd at Wembley.
However, it didn’t stop him from coming back to the sport and giving his fans and the people across the globe the two legendary fights against Oleksandr Usyk. Yet, after suffering back-to-back losses at the hands of the Ukrainian, his decision to hang up his gloves again seems to persist. Although videos on social media have confirmed Fury hasn’t just become a couch potato, visiting gyms and staying active, his brother Tommy Fury believes otherwise.
This comes amid speculations about a long-awaited all-British clash between ‘The Gypsy King’ and former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Since both are coming off losses, a fight between them seemed fitting, with Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn all up for it. Yet, Tyson Fury, who seemed open to the idea before losing his second fight to Usyk, continues to stay far away from the ring.
Tommy Fury, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Kenan Hanjalic in Budapest, is corroborating those claims, as he told FTTV Boxing, “He’s done it all, won everything, and you can’t spend the money he’s made. Why risk it now?” Despite this, many continue to believe that if offered enough money, the Englishman would come out to dance once again. Perhaps, that’s the reason, despite no confirmation in sight, predictions for the potential fight pour in every day.
Former professional boxer predicts a knockout win in Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Former WBA featherweight champion Barry McGuigan has backed Anthony Joshua to score a knockout win should he ever face Tyson Fury. Despite years of anticipation, the all-British heavyweight clash has yet to materialize. Both fighters are currently without world titles, but McGuigan believes their contrasting styles favor Joshua.

“Styles make fights though and styles will always make fights,” McGuigan told Betway. “Apparently Joshua gave Fury a hiding all of those years ago when they went to spar, but it is all sparring talk.” Still, he’s confident in Joshua’s chances. “I do believe Joshua has the style to always be a major problem to Tyson Fury… he could knock Fury out reasonably quickly too, that’s the combination of styles.”
While noting that Fury’s movement and ring IQ trouble fighters like Daniel Dubois, McGuigan added, “If Fury fights Joshua, I will say Joshua has a real chance of knocking him out.”
Having said that, the all-British clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua seems to be a dream that will never become a reality. Still, never say never. Do you think it can happen?
