Tyreek Hill Makes Football Return 1 Day After Dolphins WR’s Wrist Surgery

4 min read

This year hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for Tyreek Hill. While he welcomed the joys of fatherhood with the birth of his baby, things off the field have been far from easy. The Miami Dolphins star wide receiver found himself dealing with legal trouble following domestic violence allegations from his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, as divorce rumors swirled. On top of that, trade talk picked up, with the team reportedly open to moving him. Still, even with all the drama surrounding his personal life and future in Miami, the Cheetah showed up and locked in for his mandatory offseason workout with no excuses, not even his injury.

Tyreek Hill is back with hosting his annual Soul Runner Speed Academy youth camp. In the video shared by Starcade Media on X, Cheetah could be seen playing along with kids while challenging them to catch the pass for a touchdown.

And the kids? Ah, they beautifully tried, drawing praise and applause from the receiver himself on Thursday. Originally shared on Snapchat by Tyreek Hill, the camp saw many young boys and girls playing against him, defeating him in running and catching passes in Miami.

This isn’t the first time, though. Each year, Hill brings his football love and coaching for the young generation, helping them to excel in sports. His Speed Academy, launched in 2022, is more than just a football camp. It’s his way of giving back and shaping young lives. He’s all in on helping kids grow, focusing on six core areas: flexibility, mobility, strength, power, mechanics, and overall wellness. And it’s catching on fast.

From Jacksonville to Montreal, young athletes between 6 and 17 are showing up to train with the eight-time Pro Bowler. Last year, at a session in Adventure Crossing USA, over 200 kids soaked in his energy. And this time, they expected to see more. Speaking about it last time, Hill, who appeared fired up, dripping sweat, yelled out, “Ya gotta be coachable. Hustle. Hustle. Here we go.” No doubt, he isn’t just teaching kids how to play the game. He’s also helping them push past limits, on and off the field. Something which he is doing at present.

Could wrist surgery be a barrier for Tyreek Hill?

Tyreek Hill shared on Wednesday that he had to undergo a second surgery on his right wrist. That bothered him throughout the 2024 season. Hill had the first surgery earlier this offseason, which included placing screws in his wrist. But this time, he needed those screws removed. Hence, in the caption, he said, the procedure “went amazing.”

Tyreek Hill struggled with a torn ligament in his wrist last season but still played all 17 regular-season games. Despite his effort, his performance dropped to 81 catches for 959 yards, when compared to 2023’s 119 catches and a league-high 1,799 receiving yards. In addition, he wasn’t invited to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his NFL career.

Coach Mike McDaniel mentioned in February that Tyreek Hill likely wouldn’t return to football activities until close to training camp. It seems like the timetable hasn’t changed. He had even stirred up some drama after the last game of the season, hinting at a trade before quickly clarifying that he didn’t want to leave Miami.

While there were hopes the WR could return by OTAs, his second surgery now raises questions about whether he’ll be ready in time for preseason. With the regular season not starting until September, there’s still time for recovery. But missing out on OTAs, minicamp, and training camp could affect his connection with the team’s offense.
