The night sky of Arlington, Texas, lit up in red, white and blue as the Cowboys’ EVP Charlotte Jones laid the foundation of the Medal of Honor Museum. “Your stories will now come to life for generations of visitors, inspiring them to act with courage in their own communities,” Charlotte, chair of the museum, said to hundreds of people. Make no mistake—this museum isn’t another war memorial or a military museum. Its purpose is to serve as a narration through the lives of ordinary people who did something extraordinary to serve their country. So, watching such a historical event unfold in Dallas with a personal touch from the Cowboys—their legendary QB Troy Aikman couldn’t help but express his true feelings.

In the post where, Charlotte wrote, “After a five-year journey and decades more for many recipients, I was humbled. honored and proud to be a part of the incredible ribbon-cutting celebration for the National Medal of Honor Museum.” Aikman commented, “Amazing,” adding a red heart emoji and American flag to his reaction. What can you say? Aikman’s choice of words was absolutely bang-on. Actually, this event wasn’t just amazing. It was simply iconic, to say the least.

This museum will have more than 100,000 square feet of open space. Having specified areas for classrooms, meetings, memorials and ceremonies. And to add cheery on top. It will feature 31,000 square feet of artifacts, interviews and stories from Medal of Honor recipients to add a breathtaking viewing experience. Now, you might be wondering what the real purpose behind this Medal of Honor Museum is. Well, to lay it down for you in simple words.

Out of the 40M Americans who have served in the US Army since the Civil War—less than 4,000 have only received the Medal of Honor (highest military decoration). With only 61 of those living today—this museum was long overdue. “After decades of dreams, the Medal of Honor and its recipients will now have a proper home, where the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism will be preserved and shared with future generations of Americans,” said Maj. Gen. Pat Brady, who received his Medal of Honor back in 1969.

Brady once flew three different Huey helicopters, risking his life under a hail of bullets in 1968 Vietnam. By doing so, he rescued 51 people. And, now, his Huey helicopter lies as the centerpiece of the attraction in the museum. All of this probably wouldn’t have been possible without the Jones family leading the charge themselves. And to witness it all, they also had the face of the franchise in attendance.

Dak Prescott and more celebrities attend Medal of Honor Museum opening ceremony

You know, when it comes to honoring the bravest souls of our nation. People don’t have second thoughts about attending any such event. It’s like coming together in one place to reflect on a moment of pride for those who served honorably in the army. Leaving behind families and children just to make us feel safe at home. So, with the grand opening of the National Medal of Honor Museum happening in Texas. Revered figures like former President George W. Bush were present alongside Charlotte Jones for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Now, Bush might have been the top representative of the government.

As for the Cowboys, whose owners donated $20M had their face of the franchise, Dak Prescott also attended the event. And he was not alone. Prescott’s pregnant fiancee, Sarah Jane Ramos’ also tagged along with her. Even new head coach Brian Schottenheimer was also captured at the event with his wife by his side. Well, to add to this list of notable attendees. Senator John Cornyn also expressed his views seeing the museum opening in his backyard.

“These are the best of the best, the best of America. People who risked everything, some who gave their lives to defend our country and our way of life,” Cornyn shared. Now, to address the elephant in the room. This museum will officially open its doors on March 25. Following three years of construction and decades of struggles on the line—the veterans are finally getting what they deserve.
