Trevor Lawrence Asked to Learn From Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen’s Playbook as Liam Coen Reveals Plans for Jags QB

4 min read

After giving an update, Liam Coen is cooking up something delicious for the Jacksonville fans. As we know, the Jaguars are working hard to get Trevor Lawrence where he was before the shoulder injury happened on December 1, 2024. But according to HC, the 25-year-old QB’s arm is getting better, and the franchise has a greater plan for him regarding the upcoming season.

But before we move on to Liam Coen’s plan for Lawrence, let’s take a quick look at his recent comparisons with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Kay Adams was talking about Jags on her podcast, ‘Up and Adams. ’ The national reporter primarily talked about the run game of the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence’s air yards per passing attempt. And also said very crucial things about Allen and Mahomes, which can help Lawrence.

Kay firstly talked about Liam Coen’s intent to get the Jags’ run game better. And while doing that, she advised Trevor to follow what Jared Goff, Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen follow in making the best plays. Adams said, “Best quarterbacks in the NFL in the world are able to get the ball out and let their guys make plays.” She further added, “They don’t have to do it all themselves. If you look at Josh Allen, it was all on his shoulders, on his hurdles, on his legs. All that is not a coincidence, my love.”

She explained it using air yards per attempt example where Trevor Lawrence is best in the league with 8.6. But as we have seen here, Adams wants Trevor Lawrence to make smart games like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, while working on his skills.

And you got any idea how the Jags are going to do this? Well, Liam Coen has a big plan. When he was talking to the reporters a few days ago, the Jaguars’ HC didn’t hesitate to express what he thought about making Trevor Lawrence’s squad better. Let’s take a look at that.

In her podcast, Adams also played the Jaguars HC’s press video where he was talking about the plan for Trevor. Liam said, “Being able to give him some balance around him so that he can feel like not every play is on me, right?” Then, he also added what Kay Adams talked about above. Making plays for Allen and Mahomes where passing also matters, but more than that, the whole team effort also plays a huge role in getting more yards.

Liam Coen added, “Not every play I get to every throw I have to make is going to have to be a life or death. Man, we’ve got to create some balance for him so that he can just go play quietly with a you know free of failure and just go let it rip.” So, does that mean the HC is gonna focus more on RBs and WRs? Well, what else can it be if not this? It would make drastic changes in their offensive squad, which has touched rock bottom in terms of stats.

After Liam Coen’s hiring, there is some positive vibe buzzing through the city of Jacksonville. Though Trevor Lawrence’s injury is still lingering, according to the franchise’s officials, Trevor is on the mend and expected to be seen in the workout session after the drafts. Buckle up, guys, it’s gonna be an exciting season for the Jaguars!
