Travis Hunter’s Father Joins Cam Newton to Rally Behind Brother Trayvis After Making Major College Football Announcement

5 min read

Unlike the Sanders brothers’ time in college football coming to an end, fans are lucky not to miss out on the Hunters’ impact. Travis Hunter has moved on to the NFL, but his younger brother Trayvis is already shaping up to be college football’s next big name. Do you remember what Travis said about his younger brother? “I just want him to grow.” It looks like Trayvis took that seriously. He has also been fortunate to get support from Cam Newton as he prepares himself to meet college standards. As Newton offered his love and support, Trayvis’ proud father, Travis Hunter Sr., joined him. Meanwhile, Trayvis’ latest announcement signals that college football is ready for its next Hunter.

Trayvis is only 15 years old, but no one is taking him lightly. The young player is slowly climbing to reach his older brother Travis’ level. This wide receiver from Effingham County High School in Springfield, Georgia, has been building a strong resume. The Class of 2027 prospect is 5-foot-7 and weighs 135 pounds. While his size might seem like a disadvantage, he impressed many with his showing at the respected OT7 camp.

The OT7 is a seven-on-seven football league that showcases some of the nation’s best high school recruits each spring, and Trayvis played for Cam Newton’s C1N team. The former NFL MVP often encourages the young Hunter, and June 7 was one such occasion. The “Cam Newton 7V7” official Instagram page posted a video of Trayvis running with the football. One can easily see glimpses of the Heisman winner in the young player’s strong legwork.

The video’s caption read, “Adidas The Boneyard YeaaaaTray .” One could spot Newton’s comment, a one-word hype message: “-1ØVĖ.” Not just Newton, he was joined by Trayvis’ biggest hypeman, his father, Travis Hunter Sr. The reel was shared by Hunter Sr. on his IG story.

Last December, just two days before winning the Heisman Trophy, Travis Hunter made sure his younger brother Trayvis was part of a deal he signed with Adidas. A video of Travis joyfully announcing this went viral. He said, “Welcome to the Adidas family, dawg! I had to get you a little deal! I ain’t signing nothing that ain’t got no family involved. They had to add Trayvis in the deal. It’s gotta be right if Trayvis is in it.”

Adidas didn’t just include Trayvis because of his last name. The young chap has shown amazing speed, quickness, and skill in knowing where to be on the field. He became widely known for his performance against the City Reapers, where he caught two touchdown passes and showed he could read the opposing defense well. Just like Travis used Cam Newton’s C1N program to help his football career take off, Trayvis seems to be doing the same. And it’s clearly working out for him.

College Football programs are already chasing Trayvis Hunter

College football programs must already be having FOMO when it comes to Trayvis. And a few of them are already setting out the red carpet for the 15-year-old. On June 3, he announced a fresh Division I offer on his Instagram post.

He wrote, “#AGTG Blessed to receive an Offer from James Madison University .” Some of the programs did not even wait for Trayvis to prove his athleticism. They just jumped into the race blindly. Tennessee State, for instance, was the first one to dish out the offer on December 16.

On the same day, Jackson State also extended an offer to their former star’s brother. Then, one after the other joined in—Georgia Southern University, Sacramento State, and Georgia State. With so many people to make proud, Trayvis is clearly on the right path.

Trayvis’ father, Hunter Sr., missed most of his older son’s amazing time at Colorado. This was because he was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years of probation, which included one year of community supervision after pleading guilty to illegal possession of firearm and dr-g. However, Trayvis’ mother, Ferrante Edmonds, braved tough conditions to support both of her sons.

Now, if Trayvis Hunter ever needs some motivation while chasing success, he just has to listen to his brother’s podcast, The Travis Hunter Show. In one episode, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner said, “It’s about to be his junior year of high school so he got time to grow. But I want him to grow each year, dominate… I want him to dominate each year, be a better player and be able to be coachable to understand the game more. I want him to continue to grow.” His brother has clearly shown him the vision—now it’s up to Trayvis to figure out how to achieve it.
