Travis Hunter Sets Tough Future Path for Brother Trayvis After Father Broke Digital Silence on Special Family Day

5 min read

The 2024 Heisman Trophy ceremony was probably the most emotional and heartwarming in more than a decade. The reason? Well, just as the name Travis Hunter was announced, the hall went thundering in applause. Hunter hugged his mother and then his coach, Deion Sanders. But the second hug was too long. He broke down in happiness as he embraced Coach Prime in a moment that was too emotional to watch. Hunter got on the podium, thanked all the people in his life, and said something too touching for his little brother that will surely melt your heart.

My brother where you at, Trayvis, my boy? Yes, sir, that’s my dawg, man. You know I do this for you, bro; we’ve been doing this for a long time. You was always next to me even the times I didn’t want to take you my mama made me take you bro (audience laughs) I’m doing this for you bro I’m doing this for all my siblings man“. This was a moment when we knew how much Travis Hunter cared about his little brother Trayvis. This was a sheer moving bromance unfolding right before our eyes. It was just so emotional. Now, it seems his little brother is ready to take the next step, and Travis Hunter, like a responsible elder brother, is making sure he gets it the right way.

Trayvis Hunter is a prospect of the 2027 class and plays for Effingham County, Springfield, Georgia. This is a guy who has all the talent to follow in the footsteps of his elder brother, standing at 5 foot 7 tall and weighing around 135 lbs; he also plays as a wide receiver. So far, the younger prodigy has got two offers from colleges, Tennessee State and Jackson State, and is making all the right moves to land those lucrative ‘power’ offers. For context, he will feature and compete in the OT7 this year and is gearing up quite enthusiastically for the same. However, his brother Travis gave him a tough verdict.

When asked about his little brother and why he wasn’t promoting the 17-year-old wide receiver. Hunter minced no words and delivered his verdict straight. “ Now, everybody gets to see my little brother. They ask me why I’m not posting him or nothing. Because ain’t nobody posted for me when I was younger. So he’s gonna get it just like I got it. When that time comes, I’m gonna help him figure out where he wants to go. Right now, I just try to tell him, I’m on a mission, Mission: Incomplete, until I can be able to sit down like ya’ll and not have to work another day in my life”.

Travis Hunter, who has garnered a fan following of his own through his heroics at Colorado playing for Coach Prime, could have easily promoted and hyped his younger brother. He has a whopping 1.9 million followers on his Instagram alone. But even he knows that media hype at this age could only ruin his game and distract him from giving his 100% on the field. Travis Hunter is just being a responsible elder sibling in that regard. He doesn’t even give the guy advice, as he says, “Nah, I don’t give him advice because I want him to go through it just like I had to go through it.”

That may look harsh from our standpoint, but Hunter has achieved everything in college football. From garnering 1,258 receiving yards and 35 tackles in a season as a two-way star to being touted as the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter has seen it all. He probably knows a thing or two about how his younger brother’s career trajectory should work. However, the elder brother’s support, Trayvis’s father, has now officially broken his social media silence to cheer for his younger son.

Travis Hunter’s father breaks the silence for his younger son Trayvis

We all know about the life Travis Hunter and his siblings grew up in and the sacrifices his father, Hunter Sr., made to make his children’s dreams true. Hunter Sr. himself wanted to play football and was even slated to join a JUCO roster in Kansas after his graduation from Boynton Beach High School. But family responsibilities pushed the man to sacrifice his dream. Nevertheless, he inculcated that dream in his eldest son, Travis, and we all know the rest of the story. And now he is doing the same for his younger son Trayvis.

After more than 3 months of social media silence, in which he didn’t even post anything about Travis, Hunter Sr. has shared a message for Trayvis, wishing him his 17th birthday. “” Happy 17th birthday to my son Trayvis I love u mane man I love u son enjoy ur day….”. Hunter Sr.. posted a video of his younger son running drills and catching passes on the run. At first glance, he certainly looks like he has a lot of potential. Trayvis then reverted the message back and reposted the story, saying, “Love you, pop.”

This is a moment where Heismans are written; this is a story of a father and two sons working together in symphony to produce a perfect record. Surely, Hunter Sr.’s support will push both of his sons to greater glory, with one trying to achieve stardom in the NFL and the other following the footsteps of his elder brother in college football.
