“Just know, the Boogeyman is coming back to town to call the game.” Reggie Miller sent a public warning to Knicks fans when he returned to MSG last year to call the East Semis series against the Pacers. Although it has been two decades since Miller hung up his boots, he is still one of most hated sports figures in New York. That’s because the Pacers legend gave them a lifetime of unpleasant memories during their playoff battles in the 90s.
Even though Miller’s playing days are over and he has moved on to a broadcaster role on TNT, many believe he still has an open bias against the Knicks, especially when they are facing the Pacers. After Tyrese Haliburton and Co. won the first two East Finals games at MSG, Reggie was clearly one of the happiest people on the floor apart from the Pacers players. He was even spotted singing, “I’m going back to Indiana. Indiana’s where I’m from!” in the tunnel as the series moved to Indiana for Game 3 and 4.
Naturally, Knicks fans are not pleased to see Miller announcing the East Finals games, considering his history with both franchises. Many even questioned TNT for allowing it to happen during tonight’s Game 4, as one wrote, “It’s still extremely laughable that TNT has Reggie Miller call Pacers games, especially in the playoffs. Imagine if ESPN had Patrick Ewing calling Knicks playoff games. The outrage would be crazy.”
