“Another great atmosphere here, continues to be among the best if not the best. I mean our fans were just so into it from the get-go” said Chris Finch back in mid-April, describing just how enthusiastic the crowd at the Target Center during a Timberwolves-Lakers post-season game. It was just 3 years ago, back in April 2022, when a survey conducted by ‘Campus Sports’ did not even list the Target Center in ‘The 10 Loudest Stadiums In The NBA’. Now, thanks to the way Anthony Edwards and co have elevated the team, the fanbase has become amongst the most excited. So, when the Timberwolves secured a win at home after 2 major losses away from it, it wasn’t a surprise when the crowd continued going wild.
In the aftermath of Game 3 of the ongoing playoffs between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the latter team’s head coach, Mark Daigneault, participated in a presser. As he continued speaking, one could audibly hear fans howling! Like Wolves! It’s a rare instance when fans’ noise can be heard during a post-game presser. After all, many of them are eager to leave the stadium once the game concludes. However, even if the Timberwolves fanbase was dispersing, they weren’t doing so quietly. Though Daigneault was doing his best to ignore the noise, he would have gotten a taste of what the Timberwolves fanbase is like.
