There are a million reasons why Tiger Woods is the G.O.A.T. It’s his putting, iron-play, mental toughness, the 2000 season, cut streak (142 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, a record), and much more.
When Nelly Korda first met Tiger Woods at the 2021 PNC Championship, the World No. 1 couldn’t help but ask for a selfie with him. He had made a remarkable comeback to competitive golf after his car accident in February 2021. Every time she watches the video of her approaching Woods for a photo, she gets “bright red as a tomato.” Fortunately for Korda, her interactions with Tiger Woods were just beginning. Recently, the LPGA superstar played with the 15-time major champion for a promotional video, and fans are loving every bit of it.
During a promotional day on the practice ground for TaylorMade, Tiger Woods and Nelly Korda played together. In the video, Team TaylorMade’s Tiger Woods teams up with Nelly Korda to demonstrate their strategies for various scoring opportunities from within 100 yards. Observing the setup, Woods said, “We’ve got an uphill shot with a left-to-right slope. There are two different options that we are arguing about.” Korda joined the banter and replied, “It being not that grainy, I see a higher shot and more of like a check-check release.”
Nelly Korda hits the shot first with her 58° wedge, and her ball lands near the hole. Woods exclaims deadpan, “Okay, you win.” Korda starts laughing and replies, “No, no, no. I wanna see your shot.” And what a beautiful shot Woods hit! Before making his move, Woods shares his observation: “Okay, I’m seeing slightly more of a draw shot here. Initially, I was seeing it into the hill, the first part of the crest. Landing it there.” When Woods hits the ball with his 56° wedge, it almost lands right in the cup, with Korda cheering from the side, “Please get in.”
Honestly, that shot was remarkable, and few players in the game could pull it off, even in practice. Impressed, Nelly Korda exclaimed, “And that’s why you’re the GOAT.” Many fans agreed with her in the comments section.
Golf fans are in awe of Tiger Woods’s amazing golf skills
“Love watching the PNC. You played great. Just wish they showed more of your playing and a little less of Tiger/Charlie, who they cover even when they’re standing around.” Aside from a few fans who couldn’t help but feel like some players were overshadowed, the community was delighted.
One of the fans took a lighthearted dig at themselves to highlight just how different we are compared to the legendary Tiger Woods. They said, “He saw draw, I saw fade, that’s why we’re just different honestly.” The fan isn’t wrong. Thanks to years of experience, Woods can analyze a shot and recognize the nuances that come with it. We definitely have a lot to learn from the legendary Tiger Woods.
Two fans couldn’t help but call Tiger Woods what Nelly Korda already had. One fan said, “The GOAT,” while the other added, “Why he’s the GOAT.” These two do not need an explanation. The World Hall of Famer and career Grand Slam winner has 15 major wins and 82 PGA Tour victories to his name. He performs just as impressively outside of competition as well, as we saw in the video!
Another fan couldn’t help but urge Tiger Woods to return to the sport, even in a light-hearted manner. They said, “This is the Tiger that needs to start showing up to tournaments, just relaxed and chill. Stop trying to be the old version and start embracing this new version. I don’t expect him to win, and I don’t think others do either. He just needs to go out and enjoy the time he has left on tour.” Currently dealing with an Achilles tendon injury, Woods hasn’t participated in any events this year, including the Masters Tournament. He last played at the 2024 PNC Championship with his son, Charlie Woods.
However, it is undeniable that fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of him playing this season, even if he doesn’t perform like the “old Tiger.” Will the 2025 season see that happen? Well, we have plenty of months to find out!
Lastly, a fan remarked, “Nelly is Tiger’s biggest fan, so cool to see these two together.” When Korda played against Woods at the 2021 PNC Championship, she couldn’t help but exclaim, “Playing right in front of Tiger Woods is pretty cool too. I’m not going to lie. I’m being a little selfish here, but that’s pretty cool.” Undoubtedly, it would be amazing to see these two golfers together again. Are you excited?
