Kraft continued, “So I don’t know if Suarez has some money and SVG doesn’t, and Zillich can give you the same results on a road course, we saw how fast he was.” Freeway Insurance has been a longtime partner for Suarez, and he has also onboarded Telcel-Infinitum for the Mexico City race. If SVG doesn’t come up with the goods on the stretch of road course races that are lined up, Kraft’s projection just might come true.
But as these rumors made their way to social media platforms like Reddit and X, fans started debating which scenario would work in the best interest of the team and the drivers.
Fans react to the silly season rumor surrounding Trackhouse Racing
This race fan suggested that, in the manner Trackhouse Racing is performing right now, none of the talented drivers will be attracted to run a Cup schedule with them. “At this point, I’m not sure why anyone would want to drive for Trackhouse.” Despite finishing P5 at Texas, Ross Chastain publicly called out his team and the lack of speed on all three race cars. Gone are the days when Chastain used to trouble the likes of Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin; right now, he can’t even make speed on his No. 1 Chevy.
Now, more than performance, sponsorships, and corporate backing can decide the fate of the driver competing in the Cup Series. In SVG’s case, he’s been backed by Red Bull, but they aren’t his anchor sponsors; that position is held by WeatherTech. So, a decision to leave Trackhouse for SVG could depend entirely on him, as he has the support, and perhaps Kaulig Racing could be his next destination. “SVG leaving TH would most likely be his choice. Unless they just can’t get sponsor money for him after this year.”
Although SVG is a road course ringer, he won’t be able to compete for a win in the race cars that are running midpack. You have the likes of AJ Allmendinger, Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick who will give the Kiwi driver a run for his money. So, equipment could play a vital role in upcoming road course races. And according to this fan, TH will need to pull their socks up if they want SVG to deliver the goods. “Dumping SVG after one season would be a terrible decision. They knew what they were getting into when they signed him, especially when they only gave him one year in the Xfinity series to learn ovals. Ambrose got three years of oval experience before he was full-time in Cup. If they expected him to be good after one year, then they’re delusional.”
Many of them have seen this movie play out before. Remember, Zane Smith was brought to the team with a similar promise and was seen as a long-term prospect. But as soon as SVG burst onto the scene, Trackhouse made a U-turn, and the Smith was forced to search for a new ride for 2025. Luckily, he landed on his feet at Front Row Motorsports. So, before Trackhouse makes another sloppy decision, they will need to think twice. “Trackhouse dumping Zane Smith and SVG after one year each would certainly be a choice, one of a clearly shortsighted and incompetent organization.”
Connor Zilisch might be the up-and-coming driver who could be the next superstar. He is just running in his first full-time year in the Xfinity Series, and there’s no guarantee that he will hit the ground running if promoted to the Cup level. “Trackhouse needs to slow down and stop making quick and rash decisions every offseason. A little stability wouldn’t hurt,” a fan added.
For the time being, these are only rumors. But given the current situation at Trackhouse Racing, they might be forced to make a change, and either Suarez or SVG could find themselves on the bitter end of the stick.
