Hughes, known for his elite skating, smart defense and offense, has been one of the best NHL defensemen this season. He’s a mainstay on the Canucks backline and will be a valuable addition for Team USA too. However, the only question is his health. After all, it was injury that kept him out of the tournament in the first place. It remains to be seen how effective he can be though it’ll certainly be a big morale boost for Team USA to replace McAvoy with Hughes.
