What started out as a sweet gesture on Valentine’s Day for his partner turned into a stark reminder that Conor McGregor’s troubles are not far behind him. Last year, ‘The Notorious’ started a record label, and the latest signing to McGregor’s Greenback Records is the pop sensation group Sweet Love. In response to being signed to the label, Sweet Love did a bunch of covers dedicated to the Irishman and his partner Dee Devlin. In the latest promotional post, Conor McGregor uploaded a video featuring all four members of the outfit. But this post doesn’t seem to have sat well with fans.
Honey, Jasmine, Maya, and Venice are the four members of this girl band. They recently tagged both McGregor and his fiance Dee Devlin for gifting them a signing present. The singers showed off the diamond bracelet and earrings on camera one by one while McGregor’s caption read, “Superstar popstar gorgeousness for the timeline. Enjoy @sweetlove.” The signing of the group Sweet Love is supposed to be “the biggest thing to hit the stage since the Spice Girls”, according to ‘The Notorious’.
There’s just one problem. McGregor’s recent spat of troubles hasn’t put him in the clear, at least in the eyes of the fighting community. Now, it’s no secret that McGregor’s reputation has been in the dumps with his links to Nikita Hand, the woman who accused him of SA in 2018.
McGregor losing the civil case did no favors for him. But even if the accusations leveled by Hand were false, and they did indeed get together consensually, it still isn’t a good look on the Irishman, since then he would have wilfully cheated on his partner Dee Devlin. Either way, it isn’t a good look for Conor McGregor. So this latest saga involving the all-girl band didn’t evoke the reactions McGregor would have wanted from his fans. Let’s see what they had to say.
Fans of McGregor lashed out in the comments after he launched Sweet Love
Let’s face it – we’re in an era where Conor McGregor, for the large part, is in the public consciousness as a malicious entity. Talking big about fighting, but not fighting in four years, being accused of heinous acts and being found liable, and using absolute vulgarities against his sporting rivals that would make even the most vile Bond villain blush; the Irishman has gained no support through his antics. In fact, you could argue that he’s lost more fans than he’s gained through the years. And this was so evident in all the comments he received on his promotional post for Sweet Love.
Conor McGregor might have moved on from the high-profile Dublin court case in the Fall of 2024, but fans don’t seem to have forgotten. They poured into the comments section and wrote things like, “Respect your wife bro,” and “This looks like a disaster waiting to happen in some newsworthy way.” Another follower directed his comment towards the girl band saying, “Tagging the wife is diabolical.”
McGregor had already announced the launch of the girl band previously on his Instagram, posting a photo with them. This was the caption, “Ladies and gentlemen, an amazing day for Greenback Records. I’m super proud and excited to announce the signing of the biggest girl band since the Spice Girls. Introducing Sweet Love.”
Yet, fans weren’t ready to show grace to the Irishman. Even more comments poured reminding him of the Dublin court case, “Bro is not beating the allegations.” One fan invoked the greatest boxer of the modern era Floyd Mayweather, and his penchant for having women in his promotional posts, by stating that McGregor did the same. They wrote, “Connor going down the Floyd Mayweather route promoting girls now.”
One follower issued a scathing remark as they invoked the lead singer of the famous band Cranberries and wrote, “Connor it’s a shame I was rooting for you for Ireland. Should have found the next Dolores O’Riordan but instead you signed a brothel. Shame.” Another fan chimed in on the whole aesthetic of the situation and said, “Such a bad look.”
Conor McGregor did get his fiance’s support again with several emojis for the new venture. But fans aren’t ready to let things go. Do you think the fans are justified in their scathing remarks towards the Irishman, or are they being unreasonable? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
