A boxer is never alone when he enters the ring. His trainers and especially his family enter the ring with him. When 58-year-old Mike Tyson fought YouTube star Jake Paul last year in November it was the same. While appearing in an interview with Sean Hannity for Fox Nation’s ‘Sean’ podcast series ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ revealed what it was like for his family.
By now, everyone knows how the fight played out. Once a symbol of sheer brutality and dominance, Tyson appeared as a shadow of his former self. It wasn’t just his family who was concerned—fans who had idolized him for decades feared for his health and legacy. Not to mention, just months prior, Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up, which caused their bout to get postponed.
Though Tyson emerged from the fight without serious injury, it was clear he was no longer the force he once was. After an explosive first round, he quickly ran out of gas. From that point on, Paul controlled the fight, and Tyson never regained momentum. Sitting down with Fox Nation, Tyson was pressed by Hannity on how his family reacted to seeing him in the ring once more.

“I don’t know. Probably not, but I have to talk to them,” Tyson said when asked whether his family approves of him fighting at his age. “Each time I do this, I was like, ‘Roy Jones doing this one,’ my wife sees me screaming because my body is in so much pain. And I come home, I’m like, ‘Ah, ah. I promise I wouldn’t do this to myself.’”
Tyson further explained that he doesn’t remember anything past the first round. “Nothing else. I wasn’t sweating. I wasn’t tired,” he said. “I think it’s some spiritual stuff [that] was happening.” It’s clear now that Tyson’s family doesn’t want him fighting anymore, and it’s for good reason.
Mike Tyson reveals he hasn’t completely healed from the Jake Paul fight
Mike Tyson has admitted he hasn’t fully recovered from his fight with Jake Paul. Speaking to The Post at the 2025 Pegasus World Cup, the former heavyweight champion said, “I feel pretty good,” but added, “I don’t know if I’m 100 percent recovered.”
Paul, 28, defeated Tyson, 58, by unanimous decision last November at AT&T Stadium. After the fight, Tyson revealed he experienced memory loss during the bout. “I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,” he told Fox Sports Radio.

Tyson also battled serious health issues last year. In June, he suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight and later revealed, “I almost died… Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25 lbs.” Despite his struggles, Tyson plans to start training again. However, he clarified, “I’m just getting in shape,” adding that his wife won’t let him fight again.
That said, Mike Tyson may have wanted to continue his boxing career at 58, but his family wants him to stay away from the ring for his own benefit. But what do you think? Should Mike Tyson fight again?
