Steve Sarkisian Receives Upsetting 301lb News After Major Update on Ryan Wingo’s Return Date

3 min read

Texas Longhorns finished their first season in the SEC with a 13-3 overall record. Steve Sarkisian had all the moments to make it a season to remember. He slipped in a few and banked some of them with his offensive prowess. Nevertheless, the season can still be dubbed a success. Considering they won over all of their rivals, the major highlight was undoubtedly their win against Texas A&M by 17-7. However, the season has now ended, and Texas faces another daunting conundrum.

Well, their 2026 prospect, Jaimeon Winfield, has now officially committed to the USC Trojans. Texas had a whopping 89.2% probability rate on On3 to land the prospect, and Eric Henderson, the USC D-line coach, just swooped the whole rug under the Longhorns. The commitment will hurt because this is a player who, at 6 feet 4 and 301 lbs, looks to be the tank on the D line and was rated 4 stars with a 93.07 rating on On3. He had offers from Aggies, SMU, and  Notre Dame, too, but the player ultimately chose the USC Trojans in quite an expected move. However, that being said, Sarkisian might have good news, too, in terms of his WR department.

They have lost 19 players, departing for the NFL draft, and another 10 opted to transfer to seek pastures anew. With major players like Quinn Ewers, Gunner Helm, and Andrew Mukuba all departing Austin for greater glory. Now comes the tough task. To rebuild and carry forward the momentum they had gained in 2024. They have roped in a recruitment class ranked 1st nationally and commits who are just waiting to light up the field. However, Sarkisian still needs existing talent in his roster to push the momentum ahead. And the latest revelation about one of his major receivers just makes it the perfect timing to do so.

Anwar Richardson posted on X and wrote an update about Texas wide receivers who have gone through LASIK surgery and will benefit from enhanced vision on the field. “According to my sources, Texas WR Ryan Wingo recently had LASIK surgery after the staff discovered he was struggling with very poor vision after struggling in workouts. Apparently, he dealt with it last season. However, he’ll clearly see those dimes from Arch Manning this season.”

The news is majorly crucial since the player would have been a starter for the Longhorns in the upcoming season. Surely, the surgery would have made things complicated in terms of recovery and missing practices. But it seems the player would be perfectly fine and will probably see those passes now at 0.5x speed on the field. Surely, Arch Manning has a thing to cheer for, considering in his last season, only Wingo had accumulated 472 passing and 100 rushing yards at an average of 16.3 and 20, respectively.  Just imagine what the player can do with added vision enhancement on the field, which will come after his surgery.
