Stephen A. Smith Is Saying Something Concerning About Nico Harrison’s Life in Dallas Amid Anthony Davis’ Rumor

4 min read

Who’s more divisive in the world of basketball than First Take’s Stephen A. Smith? The man has been covering basketball for decades, and he knows exactly what to say to keep the buzz going. But this time, it’s not Stephen who’s drawn the ire of the fans. In fact, we can go one step further in saying that Smith has never been hated like the man he most recently spoke about on his podcast.

We’re talking about one of the most polarizing figures in Dallas, Nico Harrison. And there are no prizes for guessing why he’s public enemy number one. In that vein, the legendary host laid out the situation that Harrison is facing right now, and it doesn’t look good for him.

“Right now, if you are Nico Harrison, who is receiving death threats, hate mail, and beyond, since pulling the trigger on that trade for Luka Doncic, you can’t imagine how bad things are for him right now in the city of Dallas,” said Stephen A. Smith about what Nico Harrison is being subject to in Dallas.

But most of us saw this coming. Nico wanted to “build for the future” with this trade. But all he’s done with it is compromise his team’s present. The Lakers, on the other hand, are flying high with Luka Doncic among their ranks. They’ve climbed up to the 2nd seed in the Western Conference since he joined. And in Stephen A.’s words, “They’re a championship contender as we speak.” As Harrison faces mounting criticism, the Mavericks’ on-court struggles compound his challenges.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks languish in the 10th spot with no postseason in sight. To make matters worse, Kyrie Irving, the person carrying the Mavs, just had his season ended. And if you believe Shams Charania, this season may get a whole lot worse for Mavs fans wanting to see their team make a deep playoff run or win a championship.

Nico Harrison’s woes deepen following Stephen A. Smith’s revelation as rumors suggest Anthony Davis may also be out for the rest of the season

As we said, the Mavericks just lost Kyrie Irving to a brutal, season-ending ACL injury. But Mavs fans are still counting on new signee Anthony Davis to help them salvage their season. Well, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Mavs fans may be setting themselves up for disappointment.

“I think him, his representation are gonna huddle up. I think they’re gonna have some very hard conversations. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that one game [AD’s debut] was the last time we’ve seen AD this season,” said Charania on the Pat McAfee show.

You probably remember AD’s spectacular 26-16-7 showing against the Houston Rockets back in February. If so, you probably also remember him straining his adductor and walking off injured during that game. Well, Shams is suggesting that this might be the last time we see AD in a Mavs jersey this season. What a travesty it’ll be if Shams’ words come true.

And there’s no doubt that, once again, Nico Harrison will be the one bearing the brunt of the fans’ backlash. After all, it was his brain child to bring AD to Dallas in the first place. All we can say is we’re glad we’re not Nico Harrison right about now.
