“Oh my god, Sophie’s a dog,” is how Indiana Fever head coach, Stephanie White had described Sophie Cunningham’s gameplay earlier this year. And needless to say, the guard has lived up to the expectations this season. Or rather exceeded them with her fighter attitude. Her heroic contribution for the locker room further came to light when she retaliated in the fourth quarter against the Connecticut Sun and pinned Jacy Sheldon on the floor. Despite facing ejection and fine as punishment of her consequence, Cunningham was praised online for her loyalty and toughness.
The athlete stole the spotlight from Clark with a sudden increase in her jersey sales and a massively growingly list of followers. Having said that, Cunningham continued to command more attention as the Indiana Fever reached Las Vegas yesterday. In fact, even the league could not help but hype the Fever outfits ahead of the tipoff against the Aces.
The official WNBA account took to social media and shared a video of the Indiana Fever as they stepped into the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas tonight. They shared the reel on Instagram with a caption that read, “The Indiana Fever touch down in Sin City. ESPN matchup vs. the Aces awaits | 3pm/ET tip-off. ” The clip was enough to send fans spiraling into a frenzy.
The clip features every Fever player on the roster as they make their respective entries. While Caitlin Clark and Sydney Colson turned up in formal suits and Aliyah Boston went all-white with an off-shoulder blouse and flared pants, the one athlete to turn heads was none other than Sophie Cunningham.
Fans in awe of Sophie Cunningham ahead of the game
Cunningham turned up in a white over-sized tee, baggy denims, white sneakers, and a high ponytail. The player settled for a more relaxed and casual fit that stood out, thanks to the print. And as the guard strutted towards the cameras and posed for them, a closer look at the round-neck shirt was enough to make the fans go gaga.

While some fans showed direct appreciation for Cunningham’s viral shirt, others used sarcasm to give their nod of approval. One user commented, “Sophie’s shirt! I neeeeeed.” But what makes it so remarkably fabulous? It featured Indiana Fever Big 3- Sophie Cunningham, Caitlin Clark, and Lexi Hull as caricatures with open hair and classic blue Fever jerseys. But what was more eye-catching were the colorful words, Tres Leches, scribbled around the caricatures.
The “Tres Leches” nickname, celebrating the trio’s dynamic chemistry, took off on fan-driven platforms in early 2025, though it wasn’t born in Barstool Sports. According to On SI, an Indiana radio host first coined it before the moniker caught fire online.
Another user also admired Cunningham’s tee and wrote, “Her shirt is bad a–.“Renowned for rocking her signature quirky tees with effortless charm, Cunningham stood out in the custom Barstool sports tee that boldly featured the fan-driven nickname for the trio. Her outfit symbolized unity among the three fierce front-court Fever players and became a sensation within minutes of being posted on the internet.
On the other hand, a user demanded to own the infamous shirt. They wrote, “I NEED THAT TRES LECHES SHIRT.” Let’s be real. Who doesn’t want a sassy Tres Leches t-shirt featuring the Fever players. After all, the shirt, much like this comment, screamed Cunningham’s bold and outgoing personality.
Another user made a sly reference to the Tres Leches cake and wrote, “Tres leches? Maybe Neapolitan ice cream.” The user smartly used the Latin American desert and compared it with a classic Italian ice-cream, that comprises chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors. Needless to say, each Fever athlete carries a unique flavor to the hardwood.
While Dave Portnoy’s, merchandise used the words deliberately to translate to three milks for the three players, the user symbolized that each player, whether it is Cunningham, Clark, or Hull, carry their individuality while staying in the same container. And as we enjoy this food for thought over Cunningham’s quirky tee, let us hope that the locker room breaks free from the losing streak and strike with another win.
