And Biles, who was right there at the event, supporting him at the event from the sidelines, was quick to show her love once again…
On July 7, when Jonathan Owens posted a carousel of images with the kids from the event, he captioned it, “4th annual!! Shoutout to all the families, volunteers, and our sponsors that showed up to make this magical as it, the kids had a blast and the competition was incredible!! See yall next year“ That’s when Simone Biles chimed in the comments and hailed her husband’s initiative by saying, “proud of you.” Her advice for him? “keep putting on for the city,” she wrote, also encouraging him to continue doing the good work! After all, it wasn’t just a camp. Owens poured his passion into every skill he taught the boys, and every instruction he gave on the field.
Well, it’s an extremely thoughtful step for the sport that Jonathan Owens could take, thanks to his foundation and his sponsors, including the Chicago Bears. For a professional NFL safety to host a football camp, free of charge, where he himself takes on the coaching reins to shape the next generation, shows that he wants the sport to grow and the kids to dream big. Moreover, what made this extra special was that this event was held back home, at Owens’ Alma mater, the CBC High School. So in a way, it was also like his way of giving back to where he started from.
