Shilo Sanders Becomes the Laughing Stock of College Football After NFL Combine’s Latest Announcement

2 min read

“Sanders” on the back of your jersey can weigh heavy. Shilo Sanders perhaps got the shorter end of the stick when it came to the family’s athletic prowess. Father Deion Sanders did set the bar pretty high. While his brother Shedeur Sanders has flirted with getting close to or even breaching it, the same hasn’t quite transpired with Shilo. But yeah, at least he gets a clean slate now. Everyone headed to the NFL starts over from zero. Shilo Sanders, like the rest of his class, will have an equal opportunity to prove his worth at the Combine. Right? Not quite.

Shilo Sanders is the son of a gold jacket. One of the most popular figures across American sports. Naturally, one who holds a certain reverence and stature within important circles. The consensus notion dictates Shilo hasn’t quite merited being drafted to the NFL. On his own accord, at least. But you’d think the name will get him through certain doors. Turns out, there’s no substitute for talent and application after all. Shilo Sanders, sensationally, has not been invited to the NFL Combine.

The Shrine Bowl provided seniors with the opportunity to showcase their mettle one more time alongside their contemporaries. Scouts from NFL franchises were present throughout the week at practice and the game itself. Neither of these went too well for Shilo Sanders. Conversely, Shedeur didn’t partake in proceedings, largely to avert the risk of injury. He didn’t need to. His stock is firmly etched in the upper echelons. Shilo, though, could’ve done with leaving his mark on the scouts. Unfortunately, he may have blown his shot. With no invite to the Combine, the Colorado Buffs’ Pro Day will be his next, and maybe last, opportunity.
