Sherrone Moore’s Michigan Makes Big 5823-yd QB Announcement After Major 250lb Move

4 min read

On a random Tuesday, while most folks were still doom-scrolling through transfer portal mess, House vs NCAA, and 2025 projections, Sherrone Moore and Michigan straight up fired off two head-turners. And it wasn’t no mid-level fluff either. One was a quarterback with over 5,800 career yards before his learner’s permit expired. The other? A 250-pound four-star weapon that could pancake a linebacker and moss a safety in the same breath.

On May 20th, Michigan recruiting insider, EJ Holland took it to X and spilled the tea: “Michigan offers Top 100 2027 QB Hank Hendrix #GoBlue.” Hank Hendrix lit up the internet when he dropped the news: “Excited to announce an Offer From Michigan!” Boom. Hank tagged Sherrone Moore, Chip Lindsey and Co,. a Michigan vintage Tom Brady photo, the Block M, and one hell of a flex.

This isn’t no small-time stat-padding prospect either. Hendrix, currently moving from Boerne, Texas to Fayetteville, Arkansas, threw for 4,237 yards and 46 touchdowns as a sophomore — completing over 70% of his passes. Oh, and he casually added 1,586 yards and 18 more tuds as a freshman. That’s 5,823 yards and 64 touchdowns in two years of high school. For a kid who still probably gets carded for Red Bull.

And don’t even think about boxing him in. Hendrix is a baller on the hardwood too — averaging 8.4 points, 5.9 boards, 3.3 assists and almost 2 steals a night in nearly 30 games last winter. The man is basically a one-man recruiting mixtape. With offers already in from Texas Tech, Arkansas, and Washington State, Michigan’s staff wasn’t tryna get left in the dust. Quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell and the recruiting crew jumped on him fast. JJ McCarthy may be gone, but the maize and blue clearly want that next arm talent cooking in the lab already. And Hendrix? That tape shows a QB with mechanics tighter than a pregame tunnel walk and footwork cleaner than a Sunday church outfit.

But just when folks were still re-reading his stats and trying to find Boerne on a map, Michigan already dropped another hammer a few hours earlier.

Sherrone Moore’s 250 lbs Power-move

Sherrone Moore said forget waiting ‘til July for fireworks — he lighting up June early. The Wolverines just landed a 6’4”, 250-pound freak of nature at tight end in the Class of 2026: Matt Ludwig, the top-ranked player out of Montana. And don’t let that “Montana” tag fool you — this kid isn’t no log-chopping lumberjack. He’s an NFL prototype already. “BREAKING: Four-Star TE Matt Ludwig has Committed to Michigan,” reported recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett. “He chose the Wolverines over Texas Tech, Georgia, & Notre Dame.”

Sherrone Moore just won a tight end battle against Georgia. For context, Georgia probably has tight ends growing on trees in Athens, and they still couldn’t reel in Ludwig. The 250-lb monster from Billings West can block like a tackle, run routes like a slot, and catch like a receiver. That’s why national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins didn’t even bother with subtlety: “Ludwig is arguably the best prospect to come out of the Big Sky State in the last decade, if not longer.” Now that’s a glowing Yelp review if I’ve ever read one.

The Wolverines lost Colston Loveland to the NFL. The 1st rounder was practically a cheat code — a human mismatch. But Ludwig might be the perfect patch for that Loveland-sized hole. According to Biggins, he’s a “natural” with the hands, athleticism for days, and bounce like he’s got Air Max soles built into his cleats. Straight-up Power 4 material with Sunday-level upside. Boy, Sherrone Moore’s reloading for 2026 and beyond — stacking talent like he’s prepping for a multi-year siege.

And you know what’s wild? He didn’t just stop at Ludwig. The Class of 2026 is starting to look like something outta Madden franchise mode. Moore has been on the road with his staff hitting camps, visiting schools, and showing love to high-upside guys like Savion Hiter — a five-star RB who shouted out Tony Alford just this week. Recruiting in May? That’s called getting ahead of the storm.

Sherrone Moore might be new to the throne, but he’s learning fast. Rule No. 1 in the Big Ten? You don’t wait for opportunities — you recruit like your job depends on it.
