The Boston Celtics suffered a shocking collapse in Game 2 of their playoff series against the New York Knicks, blowing a 20-point second-half lead and losing 91-90. With Boston up 70-50 late in the third quarter, the Knicks surged back, outscoring the Celtics 41-20 down the stretch. The brutal loss dropped the Celtics to a 0-2 series deficit, and naturally, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley didn’t hold back.
During TNT’s postgame show, Shaq joked, “You know what rhymes with ‘what they do,’ Ernie? Down 0-2,” poking fun at the Celtics’ collapse. The panel questioned Boston’s obsession with three-point shooting, which once again failed them. After missing 45 threes in Game 1, the Celtics went 10-of-40 from deep in Game 2.
Derrick White led the team with 20 points, while Jayson Tatum added 13 points and 14 rebounds. Game 3 tips off on May 10, with Boston desperate to avoid falling into a 0-3 hole.
