Sha’Carri Richardson’s Biggest Rival Julien Alfred Breaks Silence on Miramar Invitational Strategy as Silver Medalist Stays Cryptic

2 min read

Exactly six months ago, they competed against each other on the track. It was back in Weltklasse Zurich on September 5, 2024. There, in that race in the Swiss capital, Sha’Carri Richardson remained swift compared to her nemesis, Julien Alfred. In the 100m race, she took 10.84 seconds while Julien was 0.04 seconds slower. Ultimately, it was revenge for the American athlete for what she faced from her St. Lucian opponent in the 2024 Olympic Games. But did the latter keep the matter unresolved?

No. On September 13, 2024, Julien Alfred took the 100m rivalry to another level in Memorial Van Damme by defeating Sha’Carri. Now, does Richardson have a chance against Alfred to settle the score in her season opener? On April 5, will she again face the St. Lucian force in the women’s 100m Miramar Invitational? Is everything clear on both sides? Well, on April 1, Sha’Carri dropped a cryptic post on her Instagram story claiming the fact, “I will not be competing at Miramar Invitational,” “lies.” But Julien looked more settled.

On the same day, in her interaction with Tee, the Olympic champion said, “I’m in just today. I’m just realizing how strong I am, so I’m really already seeing what I can do is just I to go out there, just trust this training, trust this plan and just work on execution.” The Miramar Invitation will be her 300m race, and after that, she will move to 100m/200m for this season.
