“The whole plan for this is that like grandkids, great grandkids, they’ll have this collection and probably hundred years from now, museums will want to put pieces of this up for the public display.” Alexis Ohanian said last November while revealing a massive collection of trading cards dedicated to his wife and 23-time slam queen Serena Williams. Apparently, the former Reddit co-founder had amassed 4,500 rare cards to preserve the former World No.1’s legacy. But it seems he’s equally fascinated with Serena’s sister and 7-time slam winner Venus Williams too. So much so, that he recently took pride in sharing a rare collectible dedicated to his sister-in-law!
It’s not a secret that Ohanian is a passionate sports memorabilia enthusiast. Lately, he’s flaunted his love for sports cards on social media. Remember how last year, in May 2024, he revealed his gigantic collection? Of course it was dedicated to his wife Serena, celebrating her two-decade long career.
In an IG post, via ALT (modern marketplace to buy and sell trading cards), a person revealed Ohanian’s favorite card of Williams. “This is actually Alexis’ favorite card. And it’s the 2018 Employee Exclusive Patch Auto. But he loves it because this is a photo of her in the 2017 Australian Open, where she was pregnant with Olympia. So this is his favorite card by far.”
And a year later, the husband has come up with another massive collection. But guess what? This time, it’s his sister-in-law Venus who’s shining brightly as a star among his various collectibles. Seems like he managed to find a rare trading card of Venus. Out of sheer excitement and feeling of pride, he shared its picture in an IG story on May 13. The photo on the card is showcasing the former World No.1 in her younger days when she arrived on the international stage while sporting the iconic hair beads.
Apart from the Williams sisters, he’s got cards featuring other tennis greats too. Some of them include the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and many others. His craze for sports trading cards can be understood from his social media reactions on different intervals. Remember how he burst into excitement last October after witnessing a NetPro card featuring his wife?
In a video clip, he was unpacking a set of NetPro cards. Suddenly, he was left speechless to spot a rare 2003 card of Williams. “Found a familiar face in my break this morning,” he wrote in the captions. But coming back to his admiration for sister-in-law Venus, it goes beyond collectibles. And that becomes evident from their special connection!

Venus Williams might be his sister-in-law, but Alexis Ohanian likes to simply call her “sis”. Moments from the past highlight their bond really well. Remember the time when he took her to a Kendrick Lamar show in 2022? Sharing about it on social media, Ohanian wrote back then, “Took my sis @venuswilliams to this @kendricklamar show.”
Later, he also praised her when she was featured on the cover of Newsweek. Sharing a photo of her classic outfit on his IG story, he wrote, “LFG sis!” Then a year later, he also showered her with admiration when she was featured on People magazine’s cover. Sharing a picture on his account, he wrote, “Let’s go, Great cover sis.”
Ohanian also boosted Venus’ morale and encouraged her last year when she launched her wellness booked titled ‘Strive: 8 Steps to Find Your Awesome’. While he’s already regarded as a great husband and father, it appears Ohanian is also turning out to be a caring brother to Venus. Even the latter has admired him time and again. In the past, she had acknowledged her younger sister for finding out a “nice” fiancé in Alexis. She’s also called him a “super nice guy” previously.
