The Phoenix Suns are just a game behind the Kings for the final play-in spot, but they can kiss that goodbye, well, just almost. Kevin Durant and Co. are currently hosting the Rockets, and a blowout loss is on the horizon. But for Kevin Durant, the night just keeps getting worse. On the night when an all-out brawl in Minnesota is making the headlines, the urge to fight is seemingly seeping into the other arenas as well. Kevin Durant was made aware of that when Dillon Brooks got into his face. But that wasn’t the end, as there was a lot in store for the Suns star.
The Rockets bruiser was sent packing for two simultaneous techs, one each for altercations with KD and Nick Richards. Now it was Durant’s turn to head to the locker room. The 36-year-old rolled his ankle over the foot of Jabari Smith Jr. while driving to the rim. And to make matters worse, in Arizona, the Suns announced his inability to return for the night. Not only that, even the security team also got involved, as confirmed by an eyewitness. “Durant having an interaction with a fan that reached a point where security said something to the fan sitting basically courtside,” Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic confirmed during the 3rd quarter of the game. What was said or how things escalated to that point is unknown at the time of writing.

If dealing with that wasn’t enough, Durant had to deal with Brooks’ shenanigans. During the 2nd quarter of the game, Durant drove to the rim before tangling with Brooks near the free-throw line. The two fought over the ball after the whistle, and when Nick Richards intervened, he was shoved by the Rockets bad boy. He then proceeded to say something foul to the refs, resulting in an ejection. Durant was also assessed with a tech, which will cost him $2000. But that’s not as much as it will cost the Suns after Slim Reaper’s injury.

The humiliating loss and the prospect of being left behind further in the post-season contention were a secondary concern when the clock hit 6:57 in the third quarter. KD dropped to the floor after twisting his ankle in a manner it wasn’t supposed to. Durant exited the game after hobbling to the locker room. Following the game, Mike Budenholzer provided an update on KD. “We’ll get an MRI on it tomorrow. He’ll stay back [on the road trip] and we’ll assess,” the HC told the press.
This is a developing story….
