“Satan’s using two of my weaknesses to try to expose the evil in my own heart, which is anger and lust. However, where I am weak, the Lord is strong” – these comments from Bryce Mitchell have netizens worried prior to his fight against Jean Silva at UFC 314. And you will never guess who is the voice of reason in this circus – Sean Strickland!
The Arkansas native claimed in a clip posted on IG that he had been having “demonic dreams” ever since the night before the UFC 314 media day. According to him, the dreams consisted of legions of demons attacking him during his sleep, and beautiful women trying to get him to cheat on his wife. Needless to say, he wasn’t able to sleep peacefully. On top of that, ‘Thug Nasty’ seemed to believe that these legions were sent by Silva! Mitchell took to social media to ask the fighting community for prayers. Mitchell may have prayed to God but it was Strickland who answered.
In the comments section of Mitchell’s previous video, ‘Tarzan’ wrote, “Dawg, it’s a dream. Go full send on the woman. It ain’t real.” But on 19 March 2025, Mitchell came forward on Instagram to reveal that the prayers had actually worked. He thanked everyone who helped him out. While many fans asked him to take therapy, Mitchell said, “I’m telling you guys, I don’t need therapy. I don’t have anxiety. I’m telling you these dreams are demonic. And that’s what I was going through. And the prayers helped. I’m telling you, instantly, right after I posted the video, I felt like the Holy Spirit just lift me up… It really worked. I’m sleeping better already.”
He continued, “And it’s not like I was waking up afraid or nothing. I was just, you know, I’d wake up sweating because I was fighting demons in my sleep and I just wanted to sleep peacefully. And as soon as I’d come to the church asking for prayers, guess what? It stops!” In the caption, ‘Thug Nasty’ thanked the fans for the prayers once again. He wrote, “thank yall for the prayers!! it worked!! the demons went back to hell and my sleep has been great!! where i am weak God is strong! always pray and ask others to pray wen u need it. never hesitate.” But Strickland was one to tease ‘Thug Nasty’ a bit. He took to the comments and wrote, “ let’s gooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Sean Strickland also shared Mitchell’s video on his Instagram Story and wrote, “My man finally slept…..” followed by hands held high emoji. He also put on a sticker of a woman yawning and added, “The demon waiting for him to fall asleep!!!” The former middleweight champion simply can’t leave Mitchell’s sleep alone.
But Strickland wasn’t the only one who trolled Mitchell for his claims of having demonic dreams. ‘Thug Nasty’ claimed that his upcoming opponent, Jean Silva, was possessed by demons, and was the reason for his nightmares. Needless to say, this urged the Brazilian to lash out at Mitchell.
Jean Silva responds to Bryce Mitchell’s demonic possession claims
Soon after the #13 featherweight contender asked the public for prayers, ‘Lord’ took to X to reveal his thoughts. Silva wrote, “Bryce, two things, these are not demons, it’s just you being afraid to face me and second about the beautiful women you have a hormone called testosterone and you probably have problems with it. Just be ready for April 12th, because I will be.”
This wasn’t the only thing that had Mitchell in the heated spots for the internet. Not too long ago, he sent forth some pro-Hitler comments which garnered him quite a bit of backlash. Nevertheless, ‘Thug Nasty’ was quick to realize his mistake and publicly apologized for his comments. But soon after that, he made claims about the Earth being flat. Of course, he was trolled for that. Silva even came to the UFC 314 media day with a globe to take a jibe at his opponent.
With all that’s been happening with Mitchell, the hype around his fight at UFC 314 has also risen higher. Scheduled to go down on 12 April 2025, the #13 featherweight contender would definitely give it his all to claim a victory and climb even higher in the rankings. But it’d be interesting to see how the post-fight events turn out, don’t you agree?
