Sean McDermott Throws Josh Allen’s Offense Under the Bus as Bills Announce Key Coaching Decision

The Buffalo Bills had a pretty good season this time. They were crowned the AFC East title with 13 wins and 4 losses in the regular season. However, reaching so close to the Super Bowl and losing in the Championship definitely stings. And now unlike many other teams, it seems head coach Sean McDermott couldn’t move on from that upset. He had something still left in for Josh Allen and team which he omitted recently.

On Monday, Sean McDermott appeared in a press conference and talked about what went wrong on Sunday, January 26. He said, “Well, without getting too much into strategy and whatnot, I am a believer in that speed. Stretching the field not just vertically, but horizontally and vertically (both), I think it just opens up a defense. And so I thought we did that at times, probably not enough this year.” McDermott’s statements subtly critique Bills’s offensive approach.

With this, the HC suggested that Josh Allen and his team should have been more aggressive in creating space and explosive plays. “I thought we did that at times, probably not enough this year.” – That’s where he indirectly throws the Bills’s offense under the bus. Not only that! Along with these lines, Sean McDermott even expressed, “And not just, you know, throwing the ball deep, it doesn’t always mean that. It means taking a short pass and taking it, you know, and some good rack yards for us in production. So I thought overall, we did some good things in that wide receiver room.”

Sean McDermott and Josh Allen’s Bills lost to the Chiefs 32-29 in the AFC Championship. And it’s pretty clear the wound is still fresh. Nevertheless, the Bills have at least started working on their team’s modification. The latest move the franchise made is to bring Chris Tabor as the team’s special teams coordinator. To the people who are unaware, Tabor actually has an experience of more than 15 years.
