Much of the evening’s conversation circled around the cultural and historical influence of Black style, all tied to the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” And this time, Chicago legend Scottie Pippen’s daughter, Taylor Pippen, made an appearance too.
At this party, Taylor Pippen showed fans a side they rarely get to see. Dressed in a stunning black combo dress, she looked stunning. It was a night to remember for her, especially on that iconic red carpet. Taylor even shared a few moments from the event on her social media, giving followers a behind-the-scenes glimpse. Mind you, this watch party was hosted by Superfine Events, and they didn’t miss Taylor’s presence either. They featured her in several clips and photos on their own social media handles, adding to the buzz around Scottie Pippen’s daughter.
In their latest Instagram post, Superfine Events dropped a carousel packed with Taylor Pippen’s party moments. The photos and videos showed her having an absolute blast with the girls at the event. Even Taylor Pippen couldn’t resist sharing a few glimpses of the night herself. She hopped on her Instagram story with a video of her singing “Like You” alongside a bunch of other girls. She captioned it, “A little recap of the Met Watch Party ” and followed up with, “Had so much thank you @superfineevents for such a great evening!” It’s clear that Scottie’s daughter Taylor had a night worth remembering.
Scottie Pippen’s complicated relationship with her daughter Taylor
Scottie Pippen is without a doubt one of the greatest to ever play the game of basketball. But the reality is that off the court, his relationship with daughter Taylor Pippen has always been complicated. Scottie welcomed Taylor with his ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby on July 20, 1994. At first, he denied paternity, but a DNA test later confirmed he was the father. From there, Scottie agreed to provide financial support, according to the Associated Press. Roby raised Taylor on her own and maintained full custody throughout her childhood.
Much like her famous dad, Taylor’s also an incredible athlete. She played high school volleyball in Mundelein, Illinois, and later joined Southern Illinois University’s team in 2012. By 2016, she took her game overseas, playing pro volleyball in Spain for a season. These days, though, Taylor’s found success in a whole new world: finance. According to her LinkedIn, she currently works as a vice president at JPMorgan Chase.
Back in 2016, during an interview with Spanish outlet El Mundo (translated by People), Taylor opened up about her famous dad and his absence from her life. “He never wanted to meet me. He decided that it [would be] like that, and I prefer not to think about the matter too much,” she shared. It was a heavy confession as Taylor admitted she didn’t know what it felt like to have a father. Because, according to her, Scottie didn’t want to be there.
Even though Scottie was granted visitation rights, he reportedly never made an effort to build a relationship with her. “I was born and raised near Chicago, you can imagine how many questions I have been asked about my father,” She added. ” I know how much my last name weighs, I know that people expect a lot from me, but, after all these years, I have learned that Pippen is just that, a last name.”
As unclear as their relationship might be, there seems to be at least a tiny glimmer of connection. In 2022, Taylor posted a photo on Instagram alongside Scottie and her half-sister Sierra. Whether it means things are slowly mending or it was just a one-time moment, only time will tell.
