The BKFC, ever since bringing ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor on board as a part-owner, has built a reputation a little bit like Conor himself. Landing into yet another controversy, this time it’s the fans who are outraged by the organization and its decision-making process. In an organization and the side of combat sports where even decision victories aren’t likely, unfortunate events have led to an even worse outcome: a no-contest between Crystal Pittman and Claudia Zamora.
Yesterday, Pittman was able to gather the whole MMA community to give her attention when she arrived for the BKFC Fight Night: Clearwater ceremonial weigh-ins with three pythons, two in both hands and one wrapped around her neck. Today, too, she was able to gather huge attention for herself, but not in a way she, or any fighter, would ever want. As Zamora continued her onslaught on Pittman in the fight, the bout ended in a no contest when Zamora’s accidental, illegal knee prevented Pittman from getting back up, bringing an abrupt and inconclusive end to the fight.
With her performance on the night, it was visible that the fans were backing Zamora against Pittman. Seeing their favorite fighter being robbed after a convincing performance, viewers and admirers across the world expressed their anger.
For a rising organization gaining viewers with every event, this will surely hit them as a setback as fans are convinced the fight shouldn’t have been stopped then and there. A fight many looked forward to, both Pittman and Zamora worked hard to push their fight to as high as they possibly could, and seeing both their efforts being turned to nothing did not leave the fans with a good taste.
Labeled by the viewers as a robbery, and not a ‘no-contest’, the enraged crowd took to the comment section the IG post by BKFC to express their anger for the end of Pittman vs Zamura. So what did they say? Let’s read further to find out.
“They robbed her.”- Fans attack BKFC for robbing Claudia Zamora of a clear victory over Pittman
Any fight, when played out ‘unfairly’ according to fans, has them rallying against the ‘robberies’ even if their words have no effect on the outcome. This time, too, fans flooded the comment section of this BKFC post accusing the organization of deliberately calling the fight a no-contest.
One enraged fan commented: “Wait, so you can just take a knee and quit and then basically lose and then because you’re taking a knee and the other girls hitting you it’s called a no contest? That’s a joke.” as another fan commented: “She was looking for a way out the whole time. She knew what she was doing going down slow like that.”
Frustrated to say the least, the fans didn’t hold back with their words and their support for Claudia Zamora. One such fan said: “@claud_strikeforce straight up dominated that fight and got robbed.” while another fan remained on the same track saying: “@claud_strikeforce was robbed :(.” If not for the judges, for the fans, the victory was unanimous and the victor was Zamora, explaining this feeling, one fan said: “Pittman was getting worked by Zamora.” The frustration of the BKFC viewers was evident, and also justified.
To sum up how the fans actually felt about the decision, one comment did it best: “Laaaaame.” One viewer’s comment: “Terrible ref.” highlighting absolute disdain for the referee who called this bout.
With all that being said, fans are backing Zamora through this controversy, as they will surely demand a conclusion to her clash with Pittman soon. The question stands: will Claudia Zamora be able to execute a similar performance and finally beat Crystal Pittman? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
