Well, how far can someone go for one’s love? For the former Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB Riley Leonard, he had to travel 666 miles to meet his lady love and the same distance back. Yes, that’s how much Leonard feels for his sweetheart, Molly Walding. Right now, the QB is at a very crucial juncture in his life. He is about to take off to the NFL. However, Leonard could not afford to miss Walding’s special day in college. After all, she has always been there beside the QB as a rock of support.
One day Leonard was making Notre Dame proud with his 1-yard touchdown run that came with only 4 minutes and 32 seconds left on the clock. The next day he was out there on his knees, blurting out the magical three words to Walding. Back on October 26, she posted a snap from their big day and wrote, “ HAPPIEST DAY! EVER!!!!!” And guess what? After so many rounds across the sun, the couple has not yet lost the charm. Leonard still makes that effort like he did on day one, and Walding still gets the butterflies in her stomach. March 24, was no exception, as the QB’s efforts swept her sweetheart off her feet.
Walding is a public relations student at Auburn University. Even though there is distance between the two, the couple fought it by staying together since 2017 and sharing a deep bond. March 24 was Walding’s ‘last formal’ day and how could Leonard afford to miss it? The journey from Indiana to Auburn makes up for 666 miles and the round trip is 1332 miles.
On Monday, Walding shared a selfie on IG and the caption is surely going to make you go ‘Awww.’ The note read, “Bragging on him for a sec! He made time to come to my last formal in such a crazy season for him! Flew in Friday morning and flew out Saturday morningHe’s the best!” The picture that followed captured how consistent of a lover Leonard is.
Walding shared the snap that the couple clicked together on her first formal day and placed it side by side with the latest one. You could sense from her caption how happy and fortunate she considers herself to be in this relationship. “He made it to the first & the last! That’s a win!!!!!! .” Not just the IG stories; Walding made an IG post capturing the best moments from the special day.
For the caption, she wrote, “I had my date = best formal ever!!!!” The first picture showed her locked in Leonard’s arm. The couple’s fashion game was on point too. As Leonard looked all dapper in his black suit, Walding carried off a gorgeous look in a slit yellow-colored satin gown. What struck me in the picture was her denim jacket. It had “Leonard” and his jersey “No.13” printed on the back. The last picture of the thread surely melted the hearts of many. Starting off as high school sweethearts, the couple still keeps the spark alive. It showed Leonard lifting Walding up in the air, while you can notice a sense of trust in Walding’s face as she was captured laughing.
Now Riley Leonard is all ready to spread his wings and fly high in the NFL. He is too excited to see himself in the pro league. As he confessed during his pre-combine interview, “I think NFL offense really complements my feet and makes me play Fast right especially when you’re under center. So when my feet are in the ground playing fast and I’m on time, I think, I’m very accurate but when I’m lack… in the pocket, you know as a longer guy I can get inaccurate.”
Meanwhile, as Walding pursues her dream, a new world awaits her. Over all these years, he has participated in numerous activities, including the National Honor Society and the Future Business Leaders of America. All this helped to shape her community-focused values.
She serves as the recruitment chair for the Chi Omega sorority and is the social media manager for a Christian ministry on campus.
