Reporters Laugh at Stephen Curry’s Emotional Update After Bad Injury News Emerges

4 min read

There’s a first time for everything. First meal, first dance at the prom, first love. And also, first injury… yikes. No wait, we ain’t talking about kids or any normal human here. It’s the Three-Point God, Stephen Curry. Ruled out of Game 2 with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, his absence from the starting lineup has left a gap in Steve Kerr’s strategies. Meanwhile, Curry has opened up about his experience and feelings over the past few days with the media.

Let’s start from the start. Stephen Curry suffered two major ankle injuries in 2012 and 2018 that set him back during his glorious 16 years in the league. There have been other injuries like knee and arm issues, but hamstring? That’s the first time for him. Thus, speaking with the media during Thursday’s shootaround at Target Center, he shared:

“This is new, and from all that I’ve learned, or all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. That is just the way the body works. You can’t accelerate it more than what it’s telling you. So, it’ll be one of those, after a week, really re-evaluating every day to kind of understand when it’s safe just to even think about playing, let alone how much you can push it.”

Steph Curry said he doesn’t have a target return date: “No. and from all that I’m learning about how quickly you can get back, there has to be a healing process. You can’t accelerate.”

Simply put, Steph wasn’t there to practice and worsen his injury; instead, he was there to most probably uplift his team’s morale. Meanwhile, the reporter asked him if he had experienced a hamstring problem before, any tightness, or anything similar. “No, that’s the first one,” the 37-year-old confirmed.

Stephen Curry also said, “Eventually, there will be conversations” about his readiness to return: “I’m not anywhere close to that right now. I’m not rushing it. … I know how tricky hamstrings can be where they can fool you to think it’s healed even if you don’t feel anything.”

Well, someone who’s never had a hamstring injury could find it tricky to deal with one. In addition, rushing the healing process could lead to further complications. So, Curry isn’t in any mood to do anything that would jeopardize the remaining games. Curry is ruled out for a week, after which he’ll be further re-evaluated. Most importantly, Steph’s optimism and smile despite the concerning health update feel like a small relief, don’t they?

Stephen Curry’s MRI results broke hearts in the Bay

The Golden State Warriors face a daunting challenge as Stephen Curry is set to miss the next three games of the playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. An MRI after Game 1 confirmed a left hamstring strain, forcing Curry to exit in the second quarter. He had already scored 13 points in 13 minutes, giving his team an early edge. Yet the Warriors didn’t flinch. They rallied to a solid 99 to 88 win, proving they can survive the storm. “Every year the playoffs are about adapting, whether it’s a game plan or an injury or a lineup, so we just have to adapt,” said Steve Kerr.

Still, questions loom. This is Steph Curry’s first major hamstring setback, and fans now wonder how long he’ll be out. But history leans in Golden State’s favor. They’ve done this before. Without him, the Warriors went 9 and 3 in the playoffs in 2016 and 2018 and even won the championship. Confidence remains high. “We think we have the best defense in the league, and that’s been proven over the last couple of months,” Kerr added. The next chapter begins, and the Warriors must once again prove their championship DNA.

Thus, Stephen Curry may be down, but the Warriors are far from out. His honesty, patience, and presence still fuel belief in the Bay. Though this hamstring strain is a first, Steph knows better than to rush the comeback. Meanwhile, the team adapts and marches on. They have done it before. So, as Curry heals, the Warriors fight.
